Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26-9-2017: Abbey Road

Hmmm …

That’s a bit … worrying …

If you’ve seen the news, you’ve possibly noticed the situation in North Korea.

The build up of — so far — words between the US and North Korea: one that’s involved a lot of nuclear tests, a lot of military build up.

And North Korea’s claim that — effectively — the US has declared war on it: and that it will shot down US bombers, should they come anywhere near.

I know Donald Trump want’s to make America great again.

I hope he doesn’t.

I get the feeling that Kim Jong-un wants to be taken seriously as an international figure, and will follow through on his threat: a threat Trump seems likely to react to.

And possibly call on US NATO allies to help in a potential war.

With the possible repercussions that implies.

Personally?

Right now, I’m hoping this will blow over.

I’m hoping my country won’t get involved in another iffy US war.

I’m hoping people don’t get killed as a result of an young man trying to show his country’s strength, and an old man’s attempt to make his country look good.

I’m worried those hopes might be pointless.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 26th September saw the UK release of Abbey Road, the last recorded album by the Beatles.   In which year of the 1960s?
Q2) The cover shows the band crossing which road?
Q3) The band crossed the road on a what: pelican crossing, zebra crossing or puffin crossing?
Q4) The album was recorded in the Abbey Road Studios: hence the album’s name.   The studio was owned by whom: EMI, Virgin or HMV?
Q5) What was the first song on side one of Abbey Road?
Q6) Name either of the two George Harrison penned songs on Abbey Road.
Q7) The last Beatles song to feature Ringo on vocals was on Abbey Road.   What song was it?
Q8) One of the songs on side two — in the medley section — was covered by Booker T and the MGs.   Which rather plastic song are we talking about?
Q9) Who was the album’s main producer: Tony Visconti, Trevor Horn or George Martin?
Q10) Finally?   The last track on the album was originally not mentioned in the track listing.   What was that track?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) TAT-1 was inaugurated: on 25th September, 1956.   TAT-1 was the first submarine laid, transatlantic what: power cable, telephone cable or telegraph cable.
A1) Telephone cable.

A4) Central America.
Q5) Finally … The US Congress established the Sequoia National Park: on 25th September, 1890.   The Park’s in which US state?
A5) California.
Here’s my favourite song from Abbey Road

And a thought …
“I actually didn’t listen to the Beatles song Nowhere Man when I was writing my book of the same name. What I listened to a lot was Abbey Road. Its disjointedness and its readiness to confuse only to delight were inspiring to me.”
Aleksander Hermon.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I was wonder whether Vasco was a relative, Olga: it’s partly why I wrote the question!   :D   I do know I’ve seen Ravenous float across my attention, before now: I’ll have to look it up.   As for The Strangers … ?   I saw it a few years ago: it’s a great little jump flick!

†        Yeah: bless him, Ronnie — chap on the right hand side — did a lot of comedy writing: most of the and finallys from The Two Ronnies were penned by him.   Actaully, the second video was written by Barker.   Speaking as an ex barman?   It’s UNNERVING how accurate it was!   (Oh, he co wrote The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town with Spike Milligan!)

Yes, The Strangers made me jump a few times although it's not as creepy as Funny Games (well, funny Games is perverse) or Eden Lake.
Let's hope all those people have more common sense than they appear to have or somebody around them does...

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
