Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-9-2017

Ye Gods, I’m tired.

Tired …

And mildly headachy.

Which will pass, I think.

I can, though, explain — or possibly blame — how I’m feeling.

It’s the trains, of all things!

Last night’s trip home — and thus the time I got to bed — was delayed.

By over-running freight-trains.

I wouldn’t mind so much …

Except, of course, that I’m working, today.

Which means some sort of functional comes in handy, when you’re working …

Personally?

I’m looking forward to next weekend.

I’ve actually got the weekend off!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser* saw Debbi putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here it is, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 9th September, 1976, saw the death of the leader of Communist China.   Who was he?
Q2) He was the first Chairman of China’s what?
Q3) He’d been that group’s de facto leader, since when: the Great Leap Forward, the Long March or the Chinese Civil War?
Q4) He ALSO welcomed one American President to China.   Which President?
Q5) Finally … The book of quotations attributed to him, was known as the Little Red … what?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) During WW2, which country surrendered: on 8th September, 1943?
A1) Italy.
Q2) The President of Chile survived a rebel ambush: on 8th September, 1986.   Who was that president?
A2) General Augusto Pinochet.
Q3) 8th September, 2016, saw the death of singer, Cecil Bustamente Campbell.   How was he better known?
A3) Prince Buster.   (Turns out he produced the original of Oh, Carolina.   https://youtu.be/r7S8QCue2IA )
Q4) William the 4th was crowned as King of Great Britain and Ireland: on 8th September, 1831.   He was succeeded by his niece.   Who was she?
Q5) Finally … The US Navy lost seven destroyers on 8th September, 18th, 1923: when the ships ran aground at Honda Point.   Honda Point is in which US state?
Here’s a thought …
“Had [he] died in 1956, his achievements would have been immortal. Had he died in 1966, he would still have been a great man but flawed. But he died in 1976. Alas, what can one say?”
Here’s a song that’s going to catch on† …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        That’s ok, Debbi: sounds like you’ve an interesting weekend ahead!   Oh, about Prince Buster, Debbi?   Did you know he did the original version of Oh, Carolina?   The Shaggy hit?   Interesting to hear the thing!

†        The country that produced The East Is Red, part of a cult of personality around its leader?      And the Red Army, the Cultural Revolution, and lord knows what else … also did this …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
