Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15th November, 2017

Thankfully?

Thankfully, I’ve had some sleep.

Although bits of me are trying to convince me otherwise.

But … ?   At least I managed to get some sleep.

AND catch some TV.

I don’t know if you know it, but I’ve been watching The Strain for some time.

It’s not stunning … but is watchable.

Very watchable.

And, on the strength of the first episode?

It looks like the show’s fourth season could be a good one.

~≈§≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions and answers, shall we?

Here they are, along the How To, License and video …

Q1) 15th November, 1988, the launch of the Buran spacecraft.   The Buran was the Soviet Union’s version of what: the Space Shuttle, Concorde or the Apollo rockets?
Q2) The STS-38 mission was launched by NASA on 15th November, 1990.      Carrying a highly secret payload for which US government department: the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security or the Department of Health and Human Services.
Q3) Which People’s Republic was became a republic: on 15th November, 1990?
Q4) Hu Jintao was named as General Secretary of China’s communist party: on 15th November, 2002.   Who replaced him in the role: on 15th November, 2012?
Q5) Finally … today is the earliest day the third Thursday of November can fall.   It’s therefore the earliest day for which wine?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) NASA’s second crewed mission to the moon launched: on 14th November, 1969.   Which Apollo mission was it: 12, 13 or 14?
A1) 12.
Q2) Princess Anne, the Queen’s only daughter, got married on 14th November, 1973.   Who to: Mark Phillips or Timothy Lawrence?
Q3) The Appalachian Meeting took place on 14th November, 1957: and famously got raided by various US police forces.   The meeting was a meeting of senior members of what?
A3) The Mafia.
Q4) Norodom Sihanouk returned to his home country on 14th November, 1991.   Which country was that home?

Here’s a thought …
“I think we are moving into extremely volatile and dangerous times, as modern electronic technologies give mankind almost unlimited powers to play with its own psychopathology as a game.”
J. G. Ballard 15 November 1930 – 19 April 2009.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a nice day.

*        Sleep caught, Olga: as well as an episode of The Strain.   But you’d possibly worked that out, hadn’t you … ?   About all I can tell you?   Is that the Dr Who Christmas special will be on, over Christmas, and that David Bradley crops up in it, The Strain and Game of Thrones.   And he plays a grumpy old man in all three.   (Alec Baldwin and John Di Domenico seem to be doing well: Trump impersonations are all the go.)

†        Well, yeah, there’s THAT to it, Debbi.   But I’ve got Siri on my AppleTV: I think any eavesdropper will only get to hear me say “Dr Who,” or “The Strain.”   Quite a bit!   (Actually?   That’s possibly a cue: for a Mark of the Rani reference.   If I can think of one … )

Good about the sleep. Yes, Trump is definitely a godsend for actors. Have you ever watched any of the series based on Bernard Cornwell's books? I'm reading his newest (Fools and Mortals. Very theatrical, about Shakespeare's brother Richard who becomes an actor, although in reality there is not much known about this Richard.... Quite a few people find it slow compared to his other books, but I guess Sharpe and others have more adventures... I'm enjoying it and I'm sure I have another one of his books on my Kindle too...)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
