Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th December, 2017

Hmmm …

I’m slightly worried: as we’ve had the coldest night of the year, so far.

It’s worrying … because, of course, we’ve had the coldest night of the year, last night.

Coming home from work?   I almost went over several times: on icy patches of black that had built up, overnight.

NOT reassuring if you have to go to work in the afternoon.

I can only hope the gritters have been out.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 12th December is Kanji Day, in Japan.   Basically, the people of Japan choose a what to represent the year?
Q2) 12th December, 1970, saw the birth of actress, Jennifer Connelly.   What — in 1984 — was her debut film?
Q3) Dionne Warwick was born on 12th December, 1940.   Which Burt Bacharach song was released by her, in April, 1968?
Q4) Which noted Norwegian painter was born on 12th December, 1863?
Q5) Finally?   The second state to ratify the US Constitution did so on 12th December, 1787: which state was it?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Germany and Italy declared war on one of the Western Allies: on 11th December, 1941.   Which ally?
A1) The USA.
Q2) Edward 8th’s Abdication as Emperor of India went into effect: on 11th December, 1936.   Who’s the current Emperor of India?
A2) No-one.   Whilst still in the Commonwealth, India is a republic: and doesn’t have a monarch as head of state.
Q3) French Upper Volta became self-governing: on 11th December, 1958.   Now independent, the country’s called what?
Q4) 11th December is International Mountain Day.   What’s England’s highest mountain?
Q5) Finally … 11th December is the Feast day of Daniel the Stylite.   Stylites were hermits that lived up what: mountains, pillars or trees?
A5) Pillars.   (I have to ask … where did these guys go to the loo … ?)
Here’s a thought …
“The sitting around on the set is awful. But I always figure that’s what they pay me for. The acting I do for free.”
Edward G. Robinson, December 12, 1893 – January 26, 1973.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Enjoy.

*        My pleasure, Debbi.   And nice to see you back on board …

Take care! I wondered if we would get to the airport, but at least until I left the weather wasn't too bad in the area where I live and it was sunny in Manchester. Here in Barcelona is much warmer, of course. Do be careful!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
