Engineers at a small ISP have successfully set up an internet connection over six foot of wet string: achieving speeds of some 3.5 megabits per second.
The mind boggles.
At least, mine does.
Mostly where the BBC have turned off the comments on the piece.
Possibly sensible.
The amount of people in rural parts of the UK saying that’s faster than their broadband connection must be big!

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
* I intend to, Olga. Although right now? We’ve got rain, rather than snow. For which I’m eternally grateful. (It’s not even the prices that are the problem with Kensington & Chelsea: it’s the amount of social housing that’s the issue. There’s not enough. There’s a couple of Grenfell sized tower blocks in Brentwood: Brentwood couldn’t rehome that many people.)
† Well … most English people grew up in England, Debbi: I know I did … ! :D (I have to admit, I don’t think I’ve seen anything with her in it: although her Wikipedia entry says she did a couple of Twilight Zone episodes, both as an actress and a director. Oh, and she’s from Herne Hill‡ … Ummm … )
Q1) Asia Q2) China Q3) Russia Q4) Japan Q5) India Precisely. I can't think the local government could afford to buy or build property in that area for social housing, even if there was any space or empty properties available... I love the songs and I'm a big fan of the second. It is so true to life! (I don't drink tea or coffee but for so many people in the Uk a cup of tea seems to be the answer to all the problems.....) Take care.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
