Normally, the boiler’s supposed to give hot water: regardless of whether the heating’s on. It’s a combi boiler: I’m assuming that’s how they’re supposed to work, as that’s what’s mine’s done for the past decade.
At any rate … ?
Ever since the mandatory gas safety check, a few months ago … ?
The thing’s … only really given hot water when the heating’s been on.
Fair enough during winter.
But a little bit iffy, during a slowly heating up spring and summer.
Which is why, only a few minutes ago? I paid a discrete visit to my landlord’s website.
To make use of their ‘Report a Repair’ page.
Frankly?
This is getting silly!

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Debbi on four.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
“My God is none other than the people. Only the popular masses are omniscient and omnipotent and almighty on earth. Therefore my lifetime motto is: ‘The people are my God.’”
* My pleasure, as ever, Olga. I’m thinking either way we cut the Civil War, it’s one of the pivotal events leading into WW2. I know I’ve picked up two impressions, over the years. That the Spanish Civil War, and Japan’s invasion of Manchuria, were both big precursor events: one, the other or both, going differently, would’ve done something. And that the bombing of Guernica was where the bombing of civilians was invented. (81 years later … )
† You’re not wrong, there, Debbi. I think we’re not going to hear the last of this. ‘It is what it is … ’? When DID that phrase start cropping up, Debbi? I’ve only been hearing it for a couple of years … At least there’s a tune about it … (Sorry about Q4, yesterday: mind you, I think the Paris protests inspired, in part, the West Berlin ones.)
Q1) George Frideric (or Frederick or Friedich) Händel Q2) The McDonald’s chain dates its opening: to 15th April, 1955. When it’s first franchised branch was opened, where: Illinois, Indiana or Iowa? Illinois. I watched the Founder, about Ray Kroc, recently and really enjoyed it (what a character! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4276820/) Q3) Cambodia Q4) Libya Q5) The cat’s eye. He’s a legend in Halifax, where I worked for a while. Great songs, Paul. I'm sure you must have checked, but my combi boiler had different settings, and one of them allowed for the hot water to work no matter if the heating was on or not, but there was another one that meant it would only work when the heating was on. There must be some fault with it, but if it works when the heating is on one can only hope it is not serious...(I had an electric shower that meant at least I could have a hot shower even if the boiler didn't work, but they are not allowed here.)
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
