Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-6-2018: Garfield.

19th June, 2018

Yeah …

Watching American Horror Story definitely leaves you with an ear worm or two.

Even if — in my case — you can’t actually sing them.

At any rate, and if you’re in the UK?

Do you remember those ever so slightly creepy Metz adverts back in the 90s?

The Judderman ones?

Yeah …

That’s what I thought, the minute I clapped eyes on Gaga’s outfits …

~≈§≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 19th June saw the debut of Garfield, the world’s most syndicated comic strip.   What type of animal is Garfield?
Q2) What year was that first debut?
Q3) Who’s the author of the strip?
Q4) Garfield is set in Muncie: Muncie is in which US state?
Q5) Famously?   Garfield is extremely fond of which pasta dish?
Q6) He’s also distinctly unimpressed by one day of the week.   Which day of the week?
Q7) Garfield’s owner is often on the wrong end of Garfield’s jokes.   Who IS Garfield’s owner?
Q8) Garfield’s owner also owns an over-enthusiastic dog: called … ?
Q9) Dr Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Wilson is Garfield’s … what?
Q10) Finally … who voiced Garfield in the 2004 Garfield: The Movie?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Five monks from Canterbury saw the forming of the Giordano Bruno crater: on the night of 18th June, 1178.   The crater is where?
A1) The Moon.
Q2) The first group of immigrants from Japan arrived at their destination: on 18th June, 1908.   What WAS that destination?
A2) Brazil.
Q3) Mona Mahmudnizhad, and nine of her fellows, was sentenced to death, and hung, on 18th June, 1965: for being members of which faith?
A3) The Bahá'í faith.
Q4) 18th June, 1972, saw Britain’s worst air crash take place.   The plane — that was supposed to head for Brussels — crashed just outside which airport?
A4) Heathrow.
Q5) Finally … 18th June, 1901, saw the birth of Llewellyn Rees.   He appeared — very briefly — in The Deadly Assassin.   The Deadly Assassin was a story in which series?
A5) Doctor Who.   (He’s the assassinated Timelord President.   In other words, he’s the corpse of the week.)
Here’s a thought …
“That was a good breakfast. Now I think I'll just fall off the ‘Catkin’s’ diet … and get myself a high-fat chaser. Mmm.”
Garfield.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Oh, blast, that’s awkward, Olga!   You’ve got my sympathies, there!   I have to admit, I had three lads head home the same time as me, last night: all of them singing Three Lions‡.   I have to admit, I got a BIT snotty at them, but managed to get them to shut up.   I’d rather NOT have drunken idiots singing in me ear at Eleven o’clock …

†        I seem to recall reading he’d picked up the idea of paper money from China, as well, Debbi.   I couldn’t swear to it, though, but … I always thought the word ‘cash’ came from the Chinese word for those Chinese coins with the square holes in: but it turns out the English term common from Tamil.

‡        I’m not a fan of football.   Can’t stand the game.   But still think Vindaloo is the better football song.

Luckily, my mother is quite deaf, so once she takes her hearing aid off, she's OK. My room is further in, but I hear them if I'm working in the dining room, where I tend to camp as my room has not natural light. I'm travelling tomorrow and not sure I'll be able to connect often for the next few days (they're operating my friend's husband today) but one never knows.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
