Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th January, 2019.

13th January, 2019

Yes, it’s a nice quiet, Sunday morning: and, frankly?

I’ll be having dinner with my family, later.

But, for the rest of it … ?

It’s probably going to be nicely quiet.

~≈§≈~

Of course, I’ve got Radio 4 on, while I’m writing this.

As I do most mornings.

One thing that got a mention in the news?

Was simply that — after meetings with President Vladimir Putin, over the past few years — President Trump has had records of those meetings either not made, not held … or destroyed.

Contrary to a practise of the preceding presidents.

At least, according to the Washington Post.

If true … ?

I’d have to ask why he’s done that.

As I’m assuming that the various branches of the USA’s many layered government are like the government here in the UK.

That anything said or done by key federal officials, like anything said or done by ministers here in the UK, has to be recorded.

If true, that fact the President hasn’t … is …

Iffy, at best …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi on five out of five, and Badwolf on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) What invaded the US Supreme Court Building: on 13th January, 2002?
Q2) Which US state received a false ballistic missile alert: on 13th January, 2018?
Q3) The Chemical Weapons Convention was signed: on 13th January, 1993.   Name any one of the four counties not party to the convention.
Q4) A bloodless coup ousted Dr Kofi Busia as Prime Minister: on 13th January, 1972.   As Prime Minister of where?
Q5) Finally?   13th January, 2012, saw the sinking of the Costa Concordia.   Off of the cost of which country?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Operation Chopper took place: on 12th January, 1962.   It was the first American operation in what?
A1) The Vietnam War.
Q2) Which of the Bee Gees died on 12th January, 2003?
Q3) William Peter Blatty died on 12th January, 2017.   What was the name of his 1971 horror novel?
Q4) 12th January, 1937, saw the birth of actress, Shirley Easton.   In which film does she play Jill Masterson?
A4) Goldfinger.   (Here: this is Jill Masterson … )
Q5) Which band appeared on the cover of Time Magazine: on 12th January, 1970?
A5) Bob Dylan’s old backing band, The Band.
Here’s a thought …
“Elf Envy … they all had it.”
Orlando Bloom, born 13 January 1977
And a song: sung by Orlando Bloom …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I hope Penny Dreadful appealed, Badwolf: it’s quite a watch …

†        You’re right, Olga: not speedy, and picky … !   What gets me is that this is the third time I’ve had to send it in.   AND tell them stuff they should already have found out.   Like my date of birth.   They asked, this time, for my date of birth.   Amongst other things.   That was on the adoption papers I’d already sent in, and put on the form!   Remind me to tell you about a role-playing-game called Paranoia, at some point.   The background world is a cross between Brazil and Logan’s Run.   And a lot more better organised that the DVLA!

‡        I’ll think about it, Debbi!   Although five more question about yesterday seems … um … odd!   (Saying that?   Most of the upcoming themed sets are five question ones, if that’s any help.)

Brazil... Funnily enough that's become a pretty realistic movie as time passes. (I just hope there were Robert de Niro type characters getting stuff done!). I have to exchange my driving license for a Spanish driving license next month, so I'll see. (Mind you, I'm going to go to St. Petersburg, with a bit of luck, with a friend of mine and her family, and we'll be travelling from France. The paperwork to get a visa looks... interesting, and it includes, apart from the paperwork, a specific type of health insurance, the form, a letter from the hotel or travel agency, going to the actual consulate, waiting.... It seems most of it must be speeded up if you know the right people... Thankfully it's not until April, but still, I wonder if we'll make it in time). All of that for a five day visit...

  3. I'm just suggesting it for the teasers you'd like to make longer. Not yesterday's in particular. You know what I mean! :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
