Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 16-8-2019: Peterloo

16th August, 2019.

Phew!

I’ve had a last minute shift swap!

I am ever so thankful.

It means I didn’t have to get up at silly o’clock, to get to work on time!

Here’s hoping I can stand up by the end of the shift!

Either way … ?   I know I managed to catch a couple of movies over the past couple of days.

Frankly?

I’m grateful.

At least one of them was fantastic!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*,  and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring  five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 16th August was the date of the Peterloo Massacre.   16th August of which year?
Q2) It took place in Saint Peter’s Field: in which English city?
Q3) The Massacre was a massacre of protestors, arguing for reform of what: the Monarchy, Parliament or the Judiciary?
Q4) The protestors were also aggravated by the what Laws: Corn Laws, Wheat Laws or Barley Laws?
Q5) Finally … ?   The protestors were massacred when what were called in: police, infantry or cavalry?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 15th August is Independence Day, where: North Korea or South Korea?
A1) South Korea.
Q2) 15th August is Fatherland Liberation Day, where: North Korea or South Korea?
A2) North Korea.   (It’s not as important as the Great Leader’s birthday.)
Q3) 15th August is Independence Day in the Republic of the Congo: marking the country’s independence from where?
A3) France.
Q4) Marked both by Egypt and the Coptic Church, 15th August is Flooding of the what Day?
A4) Flooding of the Nile Day.
Q5) Finally … ?   Josef Jakobs was executed on 15th August, 1941.   He was the last person executed for espionage in the UK … and the last person executed at which castle?
A5) The Tower of London.
Here’s a quote …
“The wicked have drawn out the sword, they have cast down the poor and needy and such as be of upright conversation”.
From the Commemorative Medal marking the Massacre.
And a video …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        That’s a thought, Anne: did you ever catch a film called The Dark?   It’s rather interesting …

†        Who, me, do trick questions, Debbi … ?   Tish, tish!   (I’ll look forward to them … !   I’ve not sat down with Sam for a while, I know that!)

  2. Well, you can pre-order the fourth Sam book. At least, the e-version. :) It's on Apple Books, FWIW.

The print version will be out next month. I hope. :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
