Q1)Christopher Columbus left Palos de la Frontera on 3rd August of which year?
Q2)He was heading for what he thought was where: Africa, the Indies, or the Americas?
Q3)The voyage was sponsored by Ferdinand and Isabella … of where?
Q4)Name any one of the three ship Columbus took on the voyage.
Q5)Finally … ? Columbus made landfall on an island he called San Salvador: that’s either in the Bahamas or the Turks and Caicos Islands. In which ocean are those islands?
Q1)2nd August, 1973, saw at least thirty people die in a fire in a resort: on which of the British Isles: the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight or Jersey?
“I should not proceed by land to the East, as is customary, but by a Westerly route, in which direction we have hitherto no certain evidence that any one has gone.”
From Christopher’s Columbus’s diary entry for the day.
* It’s long and boring: but I really don’t support the death sentence. I’m kind of with Ian Hisplop …
† I get to hear on Monday, Anne: apparently, that’s when the woman who interviewed me will be able to get in touch with their personnel department. Your right: frustrating is putting it mildly! (£25 for a marriage certificate? Ye gods, that’s outrageous: when a birth certificate’s £11 … ! I’m guessing they want to encourage people to make sure they have their birth certificate. Even so …)
‡ Oh, yes, I’d worked that out, Debbi! The woman who interviewed me — and who’d be managing the branch — seems quite young: and heavily implied she’d just been promoted to manage her first store. I’m thinking that’s a big factor.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
I'm so glad things got straightened out. These things happen, but can be fixed.

Number 4 was something we had to learn in elementary school. The three ships just trip off the tongue here. :)
