Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 18-4-2020: The Number 18

18th April, 2020.

It’s officially official: I really need a haircut.

No, really.

If you think I look bad in the intro video?

You should have seen me when I got up!

Father Jack, here we come!

~≈¥≈~

One quick minor point?

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, has suggested masks be made compulsory for all Londoners: during the current outbreak.

I can’t say it’s a bad idea.

But, speaking as an unemployed person?

My first question would be ‘Who’s paying for those … ?’

~≈¥≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Today is the 18th April.   Is 18 odd or even?
Q2) Is 18 a prime number?
Q3) What’s 18, divided by 9?
Q4) It’s 18:00 hours on a twenty-four hour clock.   What is the time: on a 12 hour clock?
Q5) On the Periodic Table?   Group 18 chemicals are the what gases?
Q6) 18 is the UK’s highest film classification.   It means you have to be what, to see the film: 18 or over, or 18 and under?
Q7) The 18 certificate replaced the what certificate?
Q8) Android 18 is a character in the Dragon Ball manga series.   Dragon Ball comes from which east Asian country?
Q9) Tiger Woods, Francesco Molinari and Nick Faldo have all played which 18 holed sport?
Q10) Finally … ?   The 18th Street Gang is a transnational criminal gang that has its origins in which US city?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) The Peak District was named as the UK’s first National Park: on 17th April of which year?
A1) 1951.
Q2) The District is at the southern
 end of which chain?
A2) The Pennines.
Q3) The Ancient Roman town of Aquae Arnemetiae is in the Peak District.   What’s the town now called?
A3) Buxton.
Q4) What’s the Peak District’s Highest point … ?
Q5) Finally … ?   The park covers roughly how many square miles: 333 square miles, 444 square miles or 555 square miles?
Here’s a thought …
“Now you’re eighteen, it’s time to start buying your own drinks.”
Anon.
And music from Alice Cooper, One Direction, Moby and Megadeath.   Just to be different.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Yeah, I knew about the Trepass, Trevor.   I might have to do a set on it, one day.

†        Yeah, I did see the mention wiz past Olga: and thought of you!   :D   Yes, it’s strikes me this is not the best of situations.   I’m sort of grateful my grandma’s long since gone, her Alzheimer’s would make things difficult.   And happily, Jude’s kept occupied by his playstation.   What that’s going to do, long term, I don’t know, but for now … well.   I can only hope you and your mother have access to some sort of green space!   (All I’ve got is the bit out back with the gas meters.   It’s got interesting weeds.)

‡        Thought you might recognise that, Debbi!   He’d usually partner with Spike Milligan’s Eccles. Remind me to pass that song on to the Twitter Gang …

We don't have green spaces home (we have a patio because her apartment is on the first floor, but it's an indoor one, so not much joy there). On the other hand, we have trees planted on the street in front of the house that we can see from the window, and they created an avenue for walking right next to us (my parents bought the flat in a very interesting location... It has a train/underground line that at that point is not underground, running very nearby (yes, we can see it from the window, or could, before), and a highway (well, at that point is not a highway, but it's one of the points of entry into the city coming from the airport, etc, so it's a big road) running under that as well. The highway was covered years back (it was like having a live-sized Scalextric), and the train/underground line has been boxed in more recently (yes, you've guessed it. Like having my own train set), and they've built a "rambla" (a wide walk with trees and plants), on top of the box, so we see people going up and down, walking the dogs... It's not boring, that's for sure!
Oh, regarding the haircut, here they are joking that famous people and influencers are not posting as many selfies now that they can't have their hair done!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
