Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th November, 2020.

8th November, 2020.

Yes: switching on the radio in the morning can be a thing.

You turn it on, tune in to Farming Today, doing an article about saffron growing … and immediately get N-Joi’s Anthem — complete with Republica frontman, Saffron, on vocals — banging it’s way through your head.

Hey … ho!

~≈Â≈~

Oh, JUST as a thought … ?

I’ve managed to catch the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery , series three, last night.

It’s looking good.

But, in case you’re following my TV reviews?

I’ll have the review of that episode up and running, tonight.

~≈Â≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Edith†, Trevor‡, Mum^ and Debbiª putting in their answers: with Olga, Trevor and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum and Edith on one.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video

Q1)        Which pay TV service debuted on 8th November, 1972?

Q2)        The Shunzi Emperor was enthroned on 8th November, 1644.   He was the Third Qing Emperor …but the first to rule where?

Q3)        8th November, 1974, saw police start hunting for which British peer?

Q4)        8th November, 1836, saw the birth of Milton Bradley.   The company that bears his name, makes what: board games, dolls or cheese?

Q5)        Finally … ?   8th November, 1927, saw the birth of Britain’s — arguable — last music hall entertainer, Ken Dodd.   His last performance was in which year?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        If you’re born on 7th November, you’re a what: Sagittarius, Scorpio or Capricorn?
A1)        A Scorpio.

Q2)        If you’re born on 7th November, 2020, you’re a what: Rat, Ox or Tiger?
A2)        A rat: according to the Chinese zodiac.   I’m not one for astrology: but these seemed like fun questions.

Q3)        Which US State granted women the vote: on 7th November, 1893?
A3)        Colorado.

Q4)        The world’s oldest journal was first published on 7th November, 1665. What is it: the Bombay Post, London Gazette or Berliner Zeitung?
A4)        The London Gazette.

Q5)        Finally … ? 7th November, 1954, saw the birth of writer, Guy Gavriel Kay. He helped Christopher Tolkien, work on which J. R. R. Tolkien book: The Hobbit, The Lord of The Rings or The Silmarillion?
A5)        The Silmarillion.
Here’s a thought …
“Did you know that a laugh is something that comes out of a hole in your face? Anywhere else and you’re in dead trouble!”
Ken Dodd, 8 November 1927 - 11 March 2018.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Ye gods!   That sounds like one hell of a boil wash, Olgaº!   At least you’ve got something out of it.   And you’re, duct tape’s a godsend.   You know, there’s possibly a Teaser in it!
And yes: changing passwords is a bit drastic as you have to update it on every machine you access the site on.   Once it’s done, though …

†        What can I tell you, Edith?   I’m going to miss the nights out Phil and I spent in Southend: but it’s his wife and family I feel sorry for.
I think congratulating Joe Biden’s a good idea!   He’s doing well.
As for the cyber-crime tips?   I’ll possibly have to add a few other things, as well, but you’re right: it’s sound!

‡        Well, so long as Cat doesn’t turn up, Trevorº …

^        Hello, Mumº!

ª        It’s sad, isn’t it, Debbiº?        It’s his wife I feel sorry for, though: she’s suffering the real loss.

º        (Apparently? 2020 is the year of the Metal Rat.   Does anyone want to mention Jim Di Griz?)

Today I've discovered both, what HBO and MB stand for. Thanks!
Oh, there were further leaks yesterday, of course, at the point where the duct tape ended, so I had to use some more (not a great long-term solution, as I suspect eventually the water will fall onto the boiler itself.)

Ah “The Stainless steel rat” I think I have most of the books if I can find them. There must be well over a thousand books in this house.
There are about 60 cook books.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
