I have to admit to falling in love with her prose, a couple of years ago: having re-read A Wizard of Earthsea.
The Lathe of Heaven’s a fascinating read, I should add: about a man called George, whose dreams turn into reality.
It’s … well, I hate to repeat a word, but ‘fascinating’ seems to sum it up well.

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Trevor†, Mum‡, Edith^ and Debbiª, putting in their answers: with Trevor, Olga, and Debbi scoring five out of five, Mum on four and Edith on three.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1)King Edward was crowned as King of England: on 3rd April, 1043. He was known as Edward the what: Confessor, Concubine or Cucumber?
Q2)Prostitute, Emma Elizabeth Smith, was attacked on 3rd April, 1888. Some believe she was the first victim of which notorious killer?
Q3)3rd April, 1981, saw the unveiling of the Osborne 1, the world’s first portable what: computer, TV or radio?
Q4)The original iPad was was released: on 3rd April, 2010. The iPad is a what: tablet, phone or laptop?
Q5)Finally … ? 11.5 million financial documents were leaked: on 3rd April, 2016. The papers were leaked from a company in which South American country: Argentina, Panama or Chilé?
Q3)In the UK, you’re supposed to eat what: fish, hot cross buns or pancakes?
A3)Hot cross buns. The cross represents the crucifixion: the spices used in it are supposed to represent the spices used to embalm Jesus. (Fish is traditional on a Friday: but hot cross bun are traditional on Good Friday.)
Q4)True or false: In the UK, Good Friday is a bank holiday?
* I know what you mean, Olga: but any chance of getting out is a good thing! I know we’re easing up, in the UK. It still doesn’t mean I can have friends over: as I’ve no back garden.
Have fun at the show when it goes ahead … !
† What always gets me, Trevor, is the amount of smaller leagues there are. It seems a shame the UK has no equivalent term to ‘little league,’ or ‘minor league.’ Strikes me the US have handy phrases.
‡ Hello, Mum!
^ Oooh, but you pick some good ones, first thing in morning, Edith¹! Cheers, me dears! (Oh, did you ever hear Jack and Diane? We don’t get chilli dogs, over here, though!)
ª Cheers for saying so, Debbi! Did you catch today’s (written) intro? I’ve been at the LeGuin, again! I certainly try with the videos. I’ve had Right Now, ear-worming it’s way throw my head, this morning! I think the UK was having a big band era …
¹ Oh, I’m guessing you’re a Country fan, Edith: is that right? YouTube’s just thrown this version of Riders in the Sky at me! Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash? Wow!

Yes so many leagues. Our local team Brentwood Town FC play in The Isthmian League – Northern Division. That is either level 7 or 8 of the Football Pyramid.
Scunthorpe United play in League 2 which is the 4th level of the Football Pyramid.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
