Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-8-2021: Tim Burton
25th August, 2021.
I went shopping, yesterday.
Shopping.
I always possibly spend a bit too much.
And always forget something.
Would you believe it … ?
Toothpaste.
I forgot toothpaste: and washing up liquid!
Oy … !
~≈🪥≈~
Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor*, Olga†, Mum‡ and Debbi^ putting in their answers: with Trevor and Olga scoring ten out of ten: with Debbi on nine, and Mum on eight.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1)Tim Burton was born on the 25th of August. Of which year of the 1950s?
Q2)Which 1988 Tim Burton film starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Michael Keaton?
Q3)Keaton played the main character in which Burton-directed, super hero film: Batman, Superman or Wonder Woman
Q4)2001 saw Burton direct a version of what: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Planet of the Apes or 2001: A Space Odyssey?
Q5)Finally … ? 2016 saw Burton direct Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Who played Miss Peregrine in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children?
Q3)He and his comedy partner appeared in the 1990s series Jeeves and Wooster. Who wrote the novels Jeeves and Wooster was based on: Evelyn Waugh, P. G. Wodehouse or E. M. Forster?
* I have to admit, I read The Sentinel many years ago, Trevor. I can understand why they changed the device’s shape and colour — a black monolith’s easier to film than a transparent pyramid — but not why Arthur had the thing up in the mountains, instead of buried …
† Sounds like you’ve got a long, fun day ahead of you, Olga: enjoy the day, whatever happens!
And QI’s a great format: apparently, the English language original doesn’t much of an international broadcast as the image rights make it costly. The only other versions have been Swedish, Dutch, Danish and Czech: I get the impression they have lasted. (If you can find an easy to use, and cheap, VPN, that may help: I could never get the hang of them, self.)
‡ Hello, Mum.
^ It’s always the way, Debbiª!
ª Going totally off the point, Debbi: and as we were talking about drummers? Did you hear Charlies Watts, the Stone’s drummer, died, yesterday? That’s sad to hear. (Something that stuck in my mind? Apparently, Charlie’s drug use got so excessive at one point, Keith Richards told him to calm down. Keith Richards!)
Q5) Eva Green Yes, it's proving quite busy so far, but let's hope we survive! Stay well. I would tell you to try and write a list when you go shopping, but I'm not a big fan. What tends to happen to me is that once I've written it down, I'll remember it and don't need to check the list, although, of course, you can still forget other things. Or leave the list behind...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
