Which reminds me: I’ve got to start getting cards written, and presents wrapped.
After tracking down some wrapping paper.

I read the news, occasionally.
So I’m aware — especially listening to Radio 4’s Today program, right now, with a long piece on the subject — that the government’s planning reform of drug policy.
And planning to improve its handling of drug crime.
Dismantling various country lines, using seized phones to message users, and spending more money on rehabilitation.
Which is nice.
But … ?
I’m very aware the Government, and Parliament, are two separate bodies: the current Speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, is very clear about that.
And can be very assertive about it.
He’s also announced that he’ll be raising allegations of drug use in the House of Commons lavatories: after traces of cocaine have been found in them.
Obviously, someone — MPs, aides, Civil Servants, parliamentary staff — is using: in the House itself.
My thinking?
The Government needs to make sure everyone it supervises is singing the same tune.
As does every other party in the House.
Before it starts talking about reforms*.

Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga†, Mum‡ and Debbi^ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* I don’t know how far Sir Lindsay could go: I suspect he could only introduce this for House of Commons staff … but I he may have a case for introducing compulsory drug testing to the House. If the parties who have members at the House can do likewise? That could be helpful. I don’t know what you think: but I’d rather MPs who are determining the country’s laws weren’t out of their heads.
† That wouldn’t surprise me, Olga: it really wouldn’t! (I remember one episode I saw of that. The head of the company needed up having lunch in a store’s staff canteen: and was distinctly unimpressed.)
(Oh, can you pick up Start the Week, over there? It’s a potted history of witches.)
‡ Hello, Mum!
^ You like trivia, Debbi? I really hadn’t noticed … ! 😄 Oh, I’ve seen the last of Dr Who Flux, so you know: the review’s up. As is the trailer for the New Year’s Day special: Eve of the Daleks.
Q5) Tokyo Station You're right about the drugs and getting their own house in order first. Oh, and thanks for the link. It seems to work, so I've saved it to check it out. (I had an App to listen to the BBC a while back, but that definitely wouldn't work here). It seems the yearly radio Christmas meal is back and will take place on the 17th of December. It has moved to a bigger venue and we'll need to show the COVID passport, but...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
