Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th February 2023.
27th February, 2023.
Right … it’s Monday …
And … ?
Beyond finishing a TV review, writing a few quizzes, doing a few bits around the house, doing some exercises, buying milk, going for a walk, sorting out the Northern Irish Protocol, arranging for long term peace in the Middle East, staring lovingly at my new blinds, inventing a shift in thought that reduces human cruelty and maybe do some job hunting, I’ve not got much planned.
Well … beyond buying that milk, that is.
We’ll just have to see.

Talking of job hunting … ?
Something I noticed floating across the news, today?
Q1)Fußball-Club Bayern München was founded on 27th February, 1900. It’s a major football club, where: Berlin, Munich or Frankfurt?
Q2)A radioactive version of Carbon was discovered on 27th February, 1940. What is that version: Carbon 12, Carbon 13 or Carbon 14?
Q3)Writer, John Steinbeck, was born on 27th February. Of which year: 1901, 1902 or 1903?
Q4)27th February is the feast day of Saint Honorina. She’s the patron saint go whom: mice, boatmen or rats?
Q5)Finally … ? 27th February, 1973, saw members of the American Indian Movement occupy Wounded Knee. Where is Wounded Knee: North Dakota, South Dakota or West Virginia?
Q1)2000AD was first published: on 26th February, 1977. True or False: Judge Dredd was in the first issue of 2000AD.
A1)False: the strip only started in the second issue. (So everyone knows? I’ve got a ten question set about Dredd, next Sunday. If you wanted to buy a copy of The Cursed Earth, now’s your excuse.)
Q2)Animator, Tex Avery, was born on 26th February, 1908. Famously, he didn’t work for who: Disney, MGM or Warner Brothers?
Q3)26th February is Saviours’ Day. According to which new religious movement: the Nation of Islam, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Scientologists or the Church of the Tin Vagabond?
* At least … not because a civil servant gets a reward. I do know some companies offer incentives to employees who recommend someone as a recruit.
† Oh, I know, Olga, I know. It’s short for ‘Programmeª,’ in case you were curious!
OK: I’ll keep an eye peeled for April, Olga: it’s Imam you’re seeing, isn’t it? Tell her I had ‘Hello!’ And yes: online video’s always a three part process. The hardware it’s made on, the hardware it’s viewed on, and the quality of the internet connection we’re viewing it on. Oh, and the quality of the site the video’s being hosted on.
Four part process! Cardinal Fang, prepare … the comfy chair!
‡ Hello, Mum!
^ You know, you can always sell them on Amazon, Debbi … ! (He says, running away, quickly!)
Oh, I know you’re not a fan: but I managed to get a few more of the 2000AD collected graphic novels, including one of the first Judge Dredd long stories. I’m looking forward to them.
ª The comic has a whole range of made-up futuristic swear words, Olga. Including the insult, ‘gorp’. It’s ‘prog’, spelt backwards. Sorry, sorry, you’ve just hit my Geeky button!
Q5) South Dakota I like geeky facts. I guess the government seems to think the people at the Job Centre aren't enthusiastic enough... The bonuses reminds me of Glengarry Glen Rose, the movie version, and the speech Alec Baldwin makes... If you haven't watched it, I recommend it.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
