Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24-7-2023: The PM.

24th July, 2023: The PM.

Right … it’s Monday.

And, with the Associates “Those First Impressions” on in the background … ?

I’m facing another early Monday morning.

As it’s the day for my weight management class.

Whoopee!

~≈É≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga And Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        24th July, 2019, saw who named as the UK’s Prime Minister?

Q2)        Who did he replace as PM: Theresa May, David Cameron or Tony Blair?

Q3)        Who was his immediate replacement as PM?

Q4)        Who — at the time of writing — is the UK’s current PM?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The PM’s official office — and London residence — is where: 10, Downing Street, 1, Whitehall or 221b, Baker Street?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        23rd July saw the UK’s government announce that the nuclear plant at Sellafield, was not linked to a cluster of cancer cases.   23rd July of which year of the 1980s?
A1)        1984.

Q2)        The late Philip Seymour Hoffman was born on 23rd July, 1967.   He played the Count in which 2009 film: Avatar, The Boat that Rocked or Coraline?
A2)        The Boat that Rocked: also known as Pirate Station.   The character was loosely based on Emperor Rosko

Q3)        C/1995 01 was spotted: on 23rd July, 1995.   It was a what: comet, meteor shower or planetoid?
A3)        Comet.   It was Comet Hale Bopp.   (I’ve distinct memories of standing in my Mum’s front garden, watching it go over, with my Aunty Bella.)

Q4)        Musician, Martin Gore, was born on 23 July, 1961.   He found fame with which 1980s band: Depeche Mode, the Human League or OMD?
A4)        Depeche Mode.

Q5)        Finally … ?   23rd July is the feast day of Saint Liborius of Le Mans.   Le Mans is where: France, Belgium or the Netherlands?
A5)        France.

Here’s a thought …
“As modern prime ministers hold office by virtue of their ability to command the confidence of the House of Commons, they sit as members of Parliament.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the post of PM.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I’m saying nothing about ducks, Olga!   🤣   But remind me to tell you about Terry Pratchett’s “What Duck?” line!
Yeah: I can imagine that election wasn’t easy.   From what the BBC’s saying, it looks like a tie …
And I had a quick reply on Mastodon, when I posted about it.   The chap said Paramount+ aired the episode at the San Diego Comic-Com: and felt they wanted to stop any spoilers.   It was a cross-over episode, after all.

        Hello, Mum!

Sounds like you're having a rough time, there, Debbi!   I just hope the packages were helpful.   “Those Old Scientists” is great fun!   They got Boimler’s hair colouring right!   Oh, and there’s a koala, as well.

  1. Q1) Boris Johnson

    Q2) Theresa May

Q3) Liz Truss (short-lived doesn’t quite reflect how brief it was)

    Q4) Rishi Sunak

    Q5) 10, Downing Street
Yes. The PP (right wing but not as extreme as VOX, although...) won overall, but he doesn't have enough votes to govern, and because Vox has gone down, it is unlikely he will gather enough support (because he has bad-mouthed all the pro-independence parties, and they are the ones holding most of the other seats, apart from SUMAR, which is left-wing in any case, so... It sounds complicated).
I hope the meeting went well.

You put commas after the building number. We don't. Interesting.

Clearly, I find weird things interesting. :)

I was just looking up the derivation of word "knackered" the other day. That was interesting.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
