Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-11-2023 — World Children’s Day.

20th November: World Children’s Day.

Right … it’s early on a Monday morning.

And … ?

Frankly, I’m going to be going up Warley Hill, twice, today.

I’ve my usual weight management meeting.

This afternoon … ?

I’ve got my diabetic retinopathy check.

I’ll need my sunglasses, for that: my vision will be a bit bonkers!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        20th November is World Children’s Day.   According to whom: the UN, EU or ECOWAS?

Q2)        The day is on the 20th: to mark the Declaration of the what of the Child?

Q3)        That Declaration was made by whom: the League of Nations, the European Economic Community or the African Union?

Q4)        The UN adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child on 20th November.   Of which year of the 1980s?

Q5)        Finally … ?   That Convention includes two option protocols. The first protocol forbids using children as soldiers.   The second forbids children being sold, used as prostitutes or in what?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Gettysburg Address was delivered on 19th November.   Of which year of the 1860s?
A1)        1863.

Q2)        Which US President delivered the Address?
A2)        Abraham Lincoln.

Q3)        The speech was delivered at what’s now called the Gettysburg National what: Monument, Cemetery or Cenotaph?
A3)        Cemetery.

Q4)        The Speech took place during what: World War 2, the War of 1812 or the American Civil War?
A4)        The American Civil War.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Gettysburg is in which US State?
A5)        Pennsylvania.

Here’s a thought …
“In 1925, International Children’s Day was first proclaimed in Geneva during the World Conference on Child Welfare.”
From the Wikipedia entry on Children’s Day.
And a video …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

I think I know what you mean about theatres, Olga.   I worked at the Dominion Theatre for a while: the place spent most of the 1970s as a one screen cinema.   They couldn’t do it today, I think: everyone’s heading for multiplexes.
Either way … ?   The Barcelona one’s bigger than the New York one … ?   I’m mildly impressed: that was three floors.   Including the basement: the basement was notorious!

‡        I can imagine, Debbi!   (Oh, the revamped The Daleks airs on Thursday: although I don’t know what’s happening, in the US.)

    Q2) Rights

    Q3) the League of Nations

Q4) 1989 (I’m a bit confused because some places mention 1959, but they’re probably two separate things).

I hope the appointments go well.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
