Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-6-2024 — Lionel’s Not Messi

20th June, 2024: Lionel Richie.

Heigh ho … it’s Thursday … !

And, possibly?

A day where some emergency medication has been sorted out.

I’ll be in town, later to find out.

Here’s hoping … !

~≈Ü≈~

Oh, in the UK … ?

It’s election time!

And one piece of news?

Shows me that at least two Conservative Party members — one a candidate, and one, a worker for the Prime Minister — have been caught with their pants downs.

Or — like a member of the PM’s bodyguard squad — caught putting bets on when the election would be: days before the PM announced it.

There’s possibly a lot I could say, or do.

Instead … ?

I’m just going to point at the PM, and laugh!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        20th June, 1949, saw the birth of singer, Lionel Richie.   He found fame with which Motown band: the Commodores, Diana Ross and the Supremes or the Dazz Band?

Q2)        The band had a 1977 hit called “Too Hot ta …” what?

Q3)        Lionel wrote — and produced — a 1980 song called “Lady”.   For whom: Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton or Johnny Cash?

Q4)        Laura Carrington appeared in the video for which Richie tune: “Dancing on the Ceiling”, “Hello” or “All Night Long”?

Q5)        Finally … ?   2015 saw Lionel play the Sunday Legends slot, where: the Glastonbury Festival, Radio One’s Big Weekend or Download?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        19th June is celebrated as the Feast of the Forest in the Palawan Province.   The province is where: Indonesia, the Philippines or Malawi?
A1)        The Philippines.

Q2)        19th June, 1988, saw John Paul 2nd canonise one hundred and seventeen Martyrs.    From where: Thailand, Vietnam or China?
A2)        Vietnam.

Q3)        Field Marshal Douglas Haig was born on 19th June, 1861.   As a Field Marshal, his insignia included two whats: batons, swords or shields?
A3)        Baton.   (There’s an old say: to the effect that … “you have a field marshal’s baton in your knapsack.”   No, I don’t: I was nowhere near the place!)

Q4)        Tommy DeVito was born on 19th June, 1928.   He was a founder member of which band: the Ramones, the Four Seasons or Devo?
A4)        The Four Seasons.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Chico Buarque was born on 19th June, 1944.   In which South American country?
A5)        Brazil.
Here’s a thought …
“All artists are egotistical maniacs with inferiority complexes.”
Lionel Richie.
And a playlist …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I can imagine it’s fun, either way, Olga.   And that there’s a certain amount of artistic satisfaction involved, too.   I always thought so, when I’d done a good gig.
I think they’ve come up with SOMETHING on the medications front: I think they’ve got hold of some Ozempic — oral§ or injectable — on a temporary basis.   We’ll have to see.

        Hello, Mum!

Oh, the references are abundant, Debbi¶!   And it’s nice to see the redesigned Sutekh.   Oh … I know you won’t necessarily be able to catch it: but there’s an extra episode of Tales of the TARDIS on BBC Four, tonight: a revamped version of Pyramids of Mars, the original Sutekh story.   Gabriel Woolf, the actor who voiced the character, originally?   Voiced it in “The Legend of Ruby Sunday”.

§        As I recall, Olga?   The oral version is called Rybelsus.

¶        I’m wondering, Debbi, if Sutekh has something to do with Ruby’s mother.   After all, what has he got in the middle of his forehead?

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
