Q3)4th August, 1693, is the traditional date of the invention of champagne: by a monk called Dom Pérignon. Champagne is a what: beer, sparkling wine or whisky?
* Hello, Mum! (It was Barbie, Mum: “Barbie Girl” is the song!)
† It’s a long fight, Olga: at least that’s my thinking!
The funny old thing with Huw Edwards, Olga? I had to look up Newspeak, when I was writing the intro for today. The entry reminded me that Winston Smith’s job was to … ah … correct mistakes in Airstrip One’s official records. Isn’t it scary when you realise Orwell had noticed something … seventy-five years ago?
(Actually, I think the Ancient Egyptians did something similar. So did the Soviets. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised!)
‡ That might change, though, Debbi: I’ve start writing the set for the 21st August. We’ll have to see!
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.

TAke care and I hope the procedure isn't quite as bad, Paul.
I think Orwell was way ahead of his time. I also think I was born a bit too early or too late. :)
