Q1)12th December, 1975, saw the birth of actress, Mayim Bialik. She played Blossom in which 90s TV show?
A1)Blossom. (Johnny Galecki — Leonard from The Big Bang Theory — also made an appearance in a couple of episodes.)
Q2)12th December is the International Universal Health Coverage Day. According to whom: the United Nations, the US Republican Party or the African Union?
(According to Wikipedia, a Cuba Libre is — basically — white rum and coke. With a slice of lime. I’ve suggested a slice of orange, myself: it goes better with a cola … … )
† Hello, Mum! (16:30, you say?)
‡ Apparently, Debbi: many Americans object to Universal Healthcare because it’s too socialist. Socialist be damned: I’d prefer my tax money going on healthcare, than on a large army.
It seems a re-animated version of The Savages — the missing William Hartnell story — will be released on 24th March: at least, on the UK branch of Amazon.
Q4) The George Cross (but it was in 1942, not 1940) The George Cross was instituted in 1940, but it was given to Malta in 1942 https://www.georgecrossisland.org.uk/siege-of-malta
Q5) The Prisoner The wife of one of the GP’s I worked with was from Malta, Melita. She was lovely and I’ve always been curious about visiting the place. There’s a pretty strange movie by Francis Ford Coppola, filmed partly in Malta, called Youth Without Youth, that made me even more curious about the place. Some day, perhaps… https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0481797/
I'll have to try orange with Coke, although I'm a big fan of lemon.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.

Just as a thought, Debbi … ?

Some people in this country actually think health care needs fixing. Desperately.
ReplyDeleteWho cares if the government provides it? I was practically raised on the dole, when I was a child.
We lived in government-subsidized housing. I'm going to turn down healthcare? I think not.
