Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-1-2025 — Blake’s Seven

2nd January, 2025: Blake’s 7.

OK, OK … it’s Thursday!

Which frankly means I’d normally be hopping, skipping and jumping around like a excitable bunny!

I think I’d rather not.

Not given the weather!

It’s definitely chilly

~≈🥶≈~

You’ve possibly noticed that there’s been an attack on party-goers in New Orleans: by a man identified as US Army veteran, Shamsud-Din Jabbar.

An attack that’s been provisionally labelled as a terrorist attack, and connected to the activities of the Islamic State group.

And possibly connected to the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck, outside a Trump hotel in Las Vegas.

A van made by Elon Musk, exploding outside a hotel owned and operated by President Elect Donald Trump.

I think America’s going to have a rough time as a result of Trump’s second term.

This … ?

Possibly won’t be the last such thing …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five and Mum on four.

From the wikipedia entry on Blake’s 7.
And the theme …

The next ten question set is on the 8th of January.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum … !

From the little I know, Olga, those preview copies are as rippable as any other.   And I’d imagine some Hollywood people would see doing that as a way of advertising their wares.

I’ll be honest, Debbi, I usually have the sets written about a month in advance: it’s just the video-making that’s a chore.   (Today’s was written on 20th November.   Or November, 20th if you want it in American … )

Well, I must say that the downloads from the DVDs sent to Oscar voters were of excellent quality, while some of the others weren't.
I have no idea if I've ever watched Blake 7. The title of the series is familiar, but if I ever watched it, it must have been a very long time ago, because the plot doesn't ring a bell.
As we've done in previous years, we'll be helping set up the Campament Reial (the Three Wise Men Encampment) for the children and families. It's on big public hall, and we'll go to help set up the decorations and everything else (not the technical side. Thankfully, the sound engineers from the radio station will do that, with a little help). But there will be a small train carting the kiddies around this year, so that will be different. The actual camp will be live on Saturday, so I'm not sure I'll join the teaser that day, as we'll be there from early morning. (I am not sure what i'll be doing, but I'm sure there will be something). On Sunday it depends a bit. I'll go help with the parade in the afternoon, and my cousin and his daughter are coming for lunch (we're going to a restaurant though), so it depends how well we manage to get organised. I'm letting you know just in case I disappear from the radar for a few days, although I'll try to come by and say hello at the very least.

I love this quote from Robert Hanks: "Blake's 7 has acquired a credibility and popularity Terry Nation can never have expected ... I think it's to do with the sheer crappiness of the series and the crappiness it attributes to the universe: it is science-fiction for the disillusioned and ironic — and that is what makes it so very British".

And that's why I'd probably love it, too. :)

Such a shame Gareth Thomas and Tom Baker never got to "cross paths". Story-wise. :)

    Thank you, Wikipedia!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
