“Hostility to the theatre is as old as the theatre itself. Plato banished the theatre from his ideal republic. Church fathers from Tertullian to Augustine denounced it. Our colonial ancestors did their best to keep it out of America, and when it arrived, they greeted it with the kind of demonstration they usually reserved for British tax collectors.”
Edmund S. Morgan.
And a video …
The next ten question set is on the 3rd April: it’s about 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Ah, it’s not Wednesday. It’s Thursday. A takeaway doesn’t sound like a good idea if you’re trying to lose weight, unless you’re thinking about very healthy options. And considering how things are going, perhaps saving up would be the wisest thing to do, but there isn’t much of an incentive to save these days either, so… Whatever you decide will be good. I’m sure I’ve seen an egg in the nest, but trying to take a picture or a video of it is tricky, because the two grown-up birds don’t leave the nest alone very long (or at least not when I’m watching). I haven’t seen the young one for a while now. He might have moved on or be looking for a special collared dove… (I think it might be too young for that, but, no idea. It seemed to be taking turns at the nest for the first couple of days, but not any longer). There was a sort of debate (not really a debate) here about the defense expenses (Pedro Sánchez insists on not calling it rearmament), and he says they will increase the expenses without reducing the funding for social programmes. How? He doesn't say. It must be magic. They did mention the UK announcement of cuts as well, so yes... You're right to be worried. Well, everybody, apart from the owners or investors in the weapons' industry, that is
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
