You have to prick your finger with a lancet, and put the drop of blood onto a test strip: the machine ‘reads’ the blood, and gives you a result a few seconds later.
Except, of course, my fingers being my fingers?
I barely get a drop: along side an error code that translates as “There’s not enough blood!”
I pick up the new, improved, bigger, needles on Monday … !

Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Mum on seven.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?
Q9)Galicia’s coat of arms features a golden chalice, and a silver host. On what colour shield … ?
A9)Blue: or azure, if you want the technical terms.
Q10)Finally … ? Avelino Cachafeiro played the gaita. In other words, he played the Galician what: guitar, bagpipes or oboe?
A10)Bagpipes. (We had a busker in Brentwood High Street, once, who played them. They’re strange looking, if you’re only familiar with the Scottish Great pipes.)
Here’s a thought …
“The little world of childhood with its familiar surroundings is a model of the greater world.”
Carl Jung.
And an Jung-influenced Bowie tune …
The next ten question set is on tomorrow: it’s about Norfolk.
† I think the Robin Hood tree is supposed to be the same sort of age, Olga. It amazes me these last so long: without being turned into firewood.
I think Gibson/Neeson/Willis rescuing assorted family members is quite common: they’re modern knights in shiny armour, rescuing fair maidens.
You know, it’s funny you should mention Neeson: he’s playing Frank Drebin, the Leslie Nielsen character, in the new Naked Gun film. Whether he’s any good is a whole other question.
Yeah: technology is all change! When I signed up for the internet connection at home, it had a twenty gigabyte usage limit. These days? There’s bigger limits on pay-as-you-go mobile!
‡ Yeah: part three’s a zombie movie, Debbi!
Oh, the next work out’s on Monday: then there’s a pause until Left-hander’s on the 13th August.
Yes, I also wonder what Neeson will be like in that role. Although, to be honest, Leslie Nielsen also had that serious look about him, and that made the movie even funnier. But we shall see. I am not sure we need another one, with the original already there, but sometimes these things work, and there might be many young people who'd never watch the original.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.

Well, this is a quick breather. :)
