Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30-7-2025 — The New Hebrides.
30th July, 2025: the New Hebrides,
It’s officially official: I had repairmen in, yesterday.
Lowering my cupboards, so you know.
I am suitably grateful.
To both the carpenters who did the job, my landlords for approving and arranging it … and to the occupational therapists who insisted on it in the first place.
Being able to reach the shelves — without a stool or a step ladder — feels odd, right now.
They’ve between that height since I moved in 2008.
Hopefully, though … ?
That will soon pass.

Something has caught my eye, this morning.
Or ears, I should say.
Is something that got announced on Radio 4’s Today programme: and confirmed by the Independent.
It’s a report from Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, that tells us YouTube is now the UK’s second biggest broadcasting service.
Behind the BBC, but ahead of ITV.
Even though I’m an older user who doesn’t use it as much as the younger generation?
That makes sense.
I’m finding it increasingly hard to find anything to watch on conventional broadcasters … but incredibly easy on YouTube.
There’s a song about that …

Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
The day also saw Debbi leaving us a message, here.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?
* Yeah: that could be seen as a threatened area, Olga. Especially if it was some time after the Aurora shooting. The management would be being cautious: even though it’s frustrating to be searched.
The washing machine, you mean, Olga§? Or did you mean the cupboards?
Yeah: I’ve got a call out arranged for next Tuesday: the company is the one I’ve got the machine from, so it’s still under warranty: that will help!
† Hello, Mum§ … !
‡ If I recall what I’ve read, correctly, Debbi§ … ? Fleming went with the name, ‘Bond’, because it sounded very English: and fairly anonymous, something akin to ‘John Smith’. I’d assume the US equivalent would be ‘John Doe’: but that doesn’t necessarily sound like a spy …
Oh, you have a reply on the review, Debbi …
§So everyone knows, Irene has messaged me her answers: as she’s had issues logging in. Here there are:
Q5) Republic of Vanuatu Good news on the cupboard front. I was talking about the insurance possible covering maintenance for the washing machine, but, as you say, the guarantee should help.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
Oh, this trailer may grab you, Debbi …

Yes, thanks, Paul! Duly noted. Especially the Timey-Wimey bit. :)

I think the Gorn must have evolved since Pike ran across them. Maybe that's why they looked less like Alien/The Borg by the time Kirk met them. :)
Timey-Whimey! Wibbley-Wobbley! (sp?)
Guinness? (sp?) Really? :)
