Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4th August 2025.

4th August, 2025.

Yes, you’re right: it’s officially Monday!

Which means?

Well, I’m off to my weight management class: hopefully, I’d’ve lost a few grams.

That would be nice, but we’ll have to see.

~≈⚖️≈~

It’s, still, officially Monday.

And … ?

I have to ask you a question.

Why IS the name “Utnapishtim” floating around my head* … ?

He’s an ancient Persian king, so you know.

But that doesn’t tell me why his name’s floating around my head, first thing on a Monday morning.

~≈𐏕≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum†, Olga‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s five question set, shall we?

Here it is, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Musician, Larry Knechtel, was born on 4th August, 1940.   He was a member of the Wrecking Crew. The Wrecking Crew were a group of session musicians based in which US city: New York, Chicago or Los Angeles?

Q2)        4th August, 1704, saw an Anglo-Dutch force capture Gibraltar.   The Rock was captured from European country: Spain, Portugal or France?

Q3)        Granny died on 4th August, 1887.   Granny was a what: star fish, sea anemone or sea squirt?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company was founded on 3rd August.   Of which year: 1899, 1900 or 1901?
A1)        1900.

Q3)        The company was originally based in Akron.   Akron is in which US state?
A3)        Ohio.

Q4)        The company was originally based in Akron: as was its main rival.   Who was that rival company: Goodyear, Apple or ExxonMobil?
A4)        Goodyear: or Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, to give it it’s full name.

Q5)        Finally … ?   1906 saw Firestone start supplying tyres to whom: Ford, Rolls Royce or the US navy?
A5)        Ford.
Here’s a thought …
“We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things.”
Barack Obama, born 4th August, 1961.
And a song …

The next ten question set is the Left-hander’s day quiz on 13th August.

Please mention the day to left handers you meet.

Comments will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        It’s half an hour or so, later: Utnapishtim has been replaced by Depeche Mode.   (That’s explainable.   I just saw a news piece about them.)

        Hello, Mum … !

I kept my Vaccination proof, myself, Olga: a physical card would be a good alternative.   That said … ?   The Today Programme’s had a representative in from the Tony Blair Foundation … who kept mentioning apps, smart phone apps.   Despite being picked up on this by the presenter.   Heigh ho!

§        A cantafford?   Your grandfather sounds very observant, Debbi!
Now, about brains … ?   Would some sort of jar, help … ?

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
