Q1)Stratford Johns was born on 22nd September, 1925. He played Detective Inspector Charlie Barlow in which series: Life on Mars, Z-Cars or Juliet Bravo?
A1)Z-Cars. Johns appeared in several of the sequels, as well.
Q2)In the northern hemisphere, 22nd September, 2025, is the autumn equinox. It means what: that the day is longer, the night is longer, or that they’re roughly equal?
* I think I’m in recovery, Olga§. Hopefully, my guts will have finally calmed down by the time I have to go to town.
I think I’ve seen that astronaut … !
I know what you mean about chicken. I used to work in the local branch of KFC: on the front desk, I should add. But we all got training in the basics. And there’s that old trick I believe Delia Smith first highlighted. You can check if chicken’s cooked properly by pricking it with a fork or skewer: if the juices that come out are clear, it’s cooked.
I wish I’d thought of that on Sunday!
Oh, the old ‘little and often’ trick: yes, I should do that myself. Although I don’t envy you your situation …
† Hello, Mum§!
‡ It hopefully won’t get you shot, Debbi§! But yes, ‘idiot’ is putting it politely. Just remind me not to mention painkillers!
Q4) He was born in 1930, not 1900. I thought he couldn’t be that old… Piano is the answer
Q5) rowing I am pleased to hear you're feeling better. I am sure chicken can be cooked in the airfryer, although I don't have one and haven't learned how to use it. (They do the Spanish version of Masterchef here on the telly, and one of the things they got the celebrities to do was cook something on the air fryer, and most of them did very badly). Tomorrow is la Mercé and I've put my name down for the Fitness Party they do every year, where they do a free fitness class, open air, and they give everybody who takes part a T-shirt. The weather forecast isn't great, but... It is always fun. I have also booked a class/workshop, organised by the local government (Town Hall) to support carers, on Saturday morning. It's supposed to be about resilience and ways to improve our mental health, so I'll see what they say there. I hope for some tricks, because some days it can be quite hard.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
