‡ Those meetings sound seriously useful, Olga, and vaguely remind me of AA meetings: there’s always something to learn from them!
If it’s any help with the Sant3 events? I've usually do the tv and movie reviews over two days, now: but I’d imagine the station’s on a far tighter deadline!
Q5) India’s Thanks, Paul. The news items I work on for the radio are usually articles about events that happen during the week, and we then edit them and include them in Sants al dia, a news programme. What I tend to do is prepare the introduction before the event takes place (sometimes we have a fair amount of information, like in this case, because they had sent a press release, although sometimes I have to get creative, or include information about the organisations involved or the subject in general), and then, depending on what happens and the people I interview, add some information about that. When I go to the radio station, I record the intro and then I have to add cuts of audio from the interviews or whatever I have recorded. On Saturday, as there was a political act where different people talked, I recorded the whole event, but I also interviewed somebody from the organisation celebrating the anniversary, some of the cooperatives that had stalls in the fair, and a politician who came by. Of course, the whole item has to be around 10 or 12 minutes (it depends a bit on how many other news are programmed for the day, but I don’t know until I talk to Pau, the editor. And, sometimes news items get moved around if something more urgent comes by, so… He can, of course, cut things if he want to, afterwards). The issue is that we also produce a written version (you’ve seen the pictures and the articles in el3.cat), and apart from the introduction and what I’ve written, we add bits from the interviews or the recording. Pau also looks at the articles and tends to cut them down quite a bit, because I like to include more of what the people said, but the articles shouldn’t be too long, because people don’t read them otherwise. It is a bit of a process, but if he item is going to be broadcast on the same afternoon I go to do the editing (the programme is at 7 pm and they open at 4 pm, so that’s the time I have) it can be a bit of a push. Some of the items are very simple, because I only talk to one or two people, but sometimes, things like fairs or events where a lot of people participate, you don’t want to leave anybody out, but there’s only so much time.... Well, you know what I mean. I’ve signed many petitions from Change and similar places, related to other countries, without any problem, but in this case I guess it is because it is addressed to Parliament and official. Of course, nothing is to stop people from starting up another one in one of those other channels to gather wider support, although I am not sure how much good it would do.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
