Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd February 2026

22nd February, 2026.

Hmmm …

It’s officially Sunday.

Which means … ?

It’s the day before I get paid, again, and officially go shopping and bill paying!

And the day before I’m off to my weight management class; and the day before I’m expecting a tub of Marmite to turn up.

Do you get the feeling I’m going to be busy … ?

~≈❖≈~

The BAFTAs, Britain’s film awards, are being aired, tonight.

Frankly, I don’t know if I’ll be watching: I’ve a review to finish.

Bur … ?

I know that Sinners, which I reviewed last year, has been heavily nominated.

I don’t know if it’s going to win Best Picture.

But … ?

I hope it does.

It’s rare for science fiction or fantasy to do well at award ceremonies: horror films doing so is even rarer.

It would be nice if one did, for once!

~≈🧛🏿‍♂️≈~

As a final thought … ?

My YouTube feed has just fed me a trailer for an upcoming film called The Yeti.

No, I’m not going to show you the trailer.

Because?

Yes: it’s nice to know someone’s picked up on the Yeti myth, and turned it into a movie.

But the producers have set the film in Alaska … when the ‘real’ Yeti is from the Himalayas.

In Asia.

Asia.

A couple of continents away from Alaska.

If you can phone the producers and sarcastically mention Bigfoot, I’d be grateful!

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Robert 2nd was named as King of Scotland: on 22nd February, 1371.   He was the first Scottish king from which dynasty?

Q2)        22nd February is National Cat Day.   Where: China, Japan or Thailand?

Q3)        22nd February is the feast day of Saint Baradates.   He lived in a diocese that’s in what’a now where: Jordan, Syria or Israel?

Q4)        John Lowe died on 22nd February, 2024.   He’d played piano for which of John Lennon’s bands?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Great White Fleet returned home on 22nd February, 1909.   Where was that home: the USA, UK or USSR?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The world’s first telephone directory was published on 21st February.   In which year of the 1870s?
A1)        1878.

Q2)        Reza Khan seized Tehran, early in the morning of 21st February, 1921.   Khan went on to rule which country, as a result: Iran, Iraq or Syria?
A2)        Iran.

Q3)        Edwin Land demonstrated a model of camera: on 21st February, 1947.   The thing was the first what camera: instant camera, digital camera or box camera?
A3)        Instant camera.   (It was marketed as the Polaroid Land Camera.)

Q4)        21st February, 1952, saw the UK government abolish what: sweet rationing, ID cards or slavery?
A4)        ID cards.

Q5)        Finally … ?   21st February, 2022, saw Vladimir Putin declared Luhansk and Donetsk to be independent.   From where?
A5)        Ukraine.
Here’s a thought …

“Dismissing the whole thing as the world’s aberration and not mine, I went back to bed.”
From Part 2, Chapter 8 (p. 25) of The Female Man, by Joanna Russ, (February 22, 1937 – April 29, 2011).

And an Oliver song …

The next three ten question sets are on the 27th and 28th of February, and 1st of March: they’re about Pokémon, Andalusia and Nebraska.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (It was ID cards, rather than sweets, Mum.)

†        From the little I know, Debbi?   The cards that ended in 1952 were the last ones used in the UK: and were only supposed to be temporary, anyway.   Every time the idea has been mentioned, since then, there’s been a backlash: there was the thing about mandatory digital ID, a few months ago.   I think it’s the mandatory aspect that offends people.
Is the US social security card mandatory … and paid for?   That’s the thing that gets me about it.   Most acceptable forms of ID in the UK — passports, drivers licences, SIA cards — cost you, but are optional.   (And Brentwood Council dropped the payment option for its voter ID scheme)
That’s the problem with ChatGPT: the hallucinations made for interesting Teaser art … but not necessarily reliable answers …
        Oh, about Yeti … … …

    Q4) The Quarrymen

    Q5) the USA
In the end, I decided not to go for the walk because I was exhausted after yesterday. It was exciting as well, as we had some pretty famous people come by and I got to interview them, but it was very tiring, and I had a backache already, that is now worse. I hope it goes well for you tomorrow. I have an English class with Jordi, but if I can I'll come by.

  3. I definitely know the limits of ChatGPT. I've seen it botch a few summaries of interviews and things I've said on YouTube. :)

That makes two things that make me feel old. Your trivia about the Cavern Club and the Quarrymen, things I learned about in my teens, long after they'd happened.

    As a kid, I'm thinking, "I wish I could've been there." :)

    Wish I had a TARDIS. :) A functional one.

  4. Oh, and Alan Cumming! Yay, Alan Cumming!

You are invincible, Alan! :) I'll never forget that. Bond, James Bond. :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
