Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser 1-4-2026 — Passover

1st April, 2026: Passover.

Yes: it’s true.

It’s Wednesday … !

Which means I’ve finally finished reviewing Stranger Things: the last written and videos ones dropped, last night!

I have to say, that took some doing.

I have a Mac mini with a one terabyte, one thousand gigabyte, hard drive: as I’d been told making videos with some apps could chew up a look of space.

That wasn’t wrong: last night’s review chewed up ~680 gigabytes: mostly — from what I could see — from where I’d applied some colour layers.

Remind me to try and point Final Cut at an external drive, would you … ?

Mama’s gonna take you to the moon, tomorrow.

Actually, that’s slightly inaccurate.

NASA is planning to launch the Artemis 2 mission to the Moon, today: a moon mission that’s the first for some five decades.

It’s a first, and inspirational … and possibly the only sort of mission that really sums up the American Dream.

Personally?

I’m going to wish the crew good luck.

But am very aware of something.

Yes: this mission is going to be inspirational.

Yes: the crew will be lauded as heroes on their return.

But, yes: at launch, the crew are going to be sat on top of a missile, a missile that could so easily go the way of the Challenger.

Here’s hoping the crew return as heroes: rather than cinders …

I am very aware marks the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of Apple: on 1st April, 1976.

If you’d like to mark it by buying me a Mac Studio with a huge hard drive, you’d be welcome!

Which I missed the anniversary, writing today’s Passover-themed quiz.

At any rate, if you’re marking the latter?

Have a good one.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring nine out of ten, and Mum on seven.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        1st April, 2026, marks the start of Passover.   Passover is marked by observant whoms: Jews, Muslims or Christians?

Q2)        It starts, when: sunrise or sunset?

Q3)        It’s traditionally marked with a passover meal.   A meal known as the what: the Seder, the Shabbat or the Mezuzah?

Q4)        Traditionally, unleavened bread is eaten at Passover.   Unleavened bread is made without what: yeast, flour or water?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The festival is called ‘passover’, because traditional practises were meant to ensure the Angel of Death would ‘pass over’ believers’ homes.   It’s mentioned in which book of the Hebrew Bible: Genesis, Exodus or Leviticus?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Newfoundland joined a confederation on 31st March.   Of which year of the 1940s?
A1)        1949.

Q2)        Which confederation: Canada, the USA or India?
A2)        Canada.

Q3)        It’s now part of a province called Newfoundland and where?
A3)        Labrador.   (You can read about Labrador, here)

Q4)        Newfoundland is part of a province.   One of how many provinces: nine, ten or eleven?
A4)        Ten.   (Canada also has three territories.)

Q5)        Newfoundland is a what: island, isthmus or peninsula?
A5)        An island.

Q6)        At the time it joined the confederation, Newfoundland was a what: a dominion, territory or crown protectorate?
A6)        A dominion.

Q7)        Those regions — whether dominions, territories or crown protectorates — were ruled by which empire: the British Empire, German Empire or French Empire?
A7)        The British Empire.

Q8)        Newfoundland, and the nation it’s part of, are now post of which ‘C’?
A8)        The Commonwealth of Nations, or Commonwealth.

Q9)        As part of its new nation, Newfoundland uses what as its currency: a dollar, pound or mark?
A9)        A Canadian dollar.

Q10)        Finally … ?   And according to the Wikipedia article?   Newfoundland’s de facto flag was the Newfoundland Red … what?
A10)        Newfoundland Red Ensign.
Here’s a thought …
“Pesach [Passover] starts on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nisan, which is considered the first month of the Hebrew year.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the festival.
And a children’s song …

The next ten-question set will be announced when written.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (It was ten, the Commonwealth and Ensign, Mum, rather than 12, Canada and Triangles.)

It was the Commonwealth, rather than colonial, Debbi.   At any rate, I’ll announce the next one when I write it!
I though Mr Creepy look vaguely like Steve Buscemi.

Post a Comment

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
