Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st June, 2026.

1st June, 2026.

Right, then: it’s Monday morning.

And, as ever?

I’m up, early: as I’m off to my weight management group.

I hope I’ve lost some.

But have to confess: I’ve had a few too many bags of crisps to be confident about that … !

~≈🥔≈~

I had the radio on, earlier.

Or, at least, had Radio Four’s Today programme on, earlier.

Seemingly?

Tech firm, Palantír, has been contracted to organise a unified database that will be used by the NHS, GP surgeries and social care department: in order to simplify access to patient data, and to make it easier for staff in Hospital A, Surgery B and Social Care Dept. C, to access the same details about a given patient.

I like the idea: although I’m as aware as anyone else, that’s setting the thing up is going to be a huge job.

However, Palantír, the contractors, are an American company.

Using the services they’ve already developed would makes things quicker and easier.

But … ?

I have to wonder if there’s a British company that could have been hired.

Digital sovereignty, an’ all that!

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring ten out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        1st June is the feast day of Saint Ronan of Locronan.   Where is Locranon: Brittany, Nouvelle Aquitaine or Corsica?

Q2)        1st June is Independence Day in Samoa.   It’s in what: the South Pacific, North Pacific or North Atlantic?

Q3)        1st June, 1831, saw James Clark Ross become the first European to reach what: the Magnetic North Pole, or the Magnetic South Pole?

Q4)        1st June is the UN sponsored Global Day of what: Children, Parents or siblings?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Tom Holland was born on 1st June, 1996. Who does he play in Spider-Man: No Way Home: Spider-Man, the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man or the Amazing Spider-Man?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        31st May, 2026, is Trinity Sunday.   It’s the first Sunday after what: Easter, Christmas or Pentecost?
A1)        Pentecost.

Q2)        It marks the Holy Trinity.   In other words, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy what
A2)        Spirit: or ghost, in some translations.   (According to the Baha’i faith, the Holy Spirit is “the outpouring grace of God and the effulgent rays that emanate from His Manifestation”.   Which is nice …)

Q3)        The Trinity is important in which religion: Islam, Judaism or Christianity?
A3)        Christianity.

Q4)        A trinity consists of how many things: two, three or four?
A4)        Three things.   (I’d far rather use the Oxford English Dictionary definition but my readers outside the UK won’t be able to access it.)

Q5)        Carrie Anne Moss plays Trinity.   In which film: Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope, Blade Runner or The Matrix?
A5)        The Matrix.

Q6)        Bronze, Codon and Wise Monkey are university punts owned by Trinity College.   Trinity College, where: Oxford or Cambridge?
A6)        Trinity College, Cambridge.

Q7)        Former Prime Ministers, Spencer Compton, Frederick North and William Pitt the Elder, were all at Trinity College.   Trinity College, where: Oxford or Cambridge?
A7)        Trinity College, Oxford.

Q8)        Gainsborough Trinity F.C. play in the Northern Premier League.   They play what in the Northern Premier League?
A8)        Football.

Q9)        The ’77 Trinity — the Apple 2, the PET 2001 and the TRS 80 — were all released in 1977.   They were what: TV sets, cookers or computers?
A9)        Computers.

Q10)        Finally … ?   Trinity House is in Tower Hill, in London.   It’s the authority that runs what in England and Wales: ports, lighthouses or the Coastguard?
A10)        Lighthouses.   Trinity House also runs lighthouses and beacons for Gibraltar and the Channel Islands: and organises buoys over the same areas.
Here’s a thought …
“The truth is all kinds of people exist everywhere.   So let’s tell their stories, too.”
Zazie Beetz, born June 1, 1991.
And a Jason Donovan song …

The next ten question sets will be on 3rd, 7th, 11th and 12th June: they’re about Trinity Sunday, Liverpool football club, “The Dreaming City”, the World Cup and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (Well done: ten out of ten.)

†        I’m keeping my fingers crossed, Olga: the most recent copies included The Village of the Damned: it’s possibly the only authentic version of The Midwich Cuckoos ever made!
I’ll also keep fingers crossed for you and you mother: that fall, and the — um — sighting must have been worrying …

Didn’t you put it in the towel holder, Debbi … ?   The towel, that is … ?   Oh, I’ve asked ChatGPT to do an image of rampaging towels.   I don’t think they’ll be menacing Tokyo …

Post a Comment

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
