Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 31st August 2026.

31st August, 2026.

Right: it’s a bank holiday Monday!

Which means I have the day off.

From my weight management group, rather than anything else.

Hopefully?

I’ll have lost weight by the time it restarts, next week.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

A1)        John Peel.   (The Peel Sessions were legendary: and provided a start for some serious musical heavyweights.   Bowie, Bolan, the Who, and many others, all recorded sessions for Peel.   So did John Williams!   Dear Gods, John Williams!)

Q2)        Augustus and John Allen founded Houston on 30th August, 1836.   It’s in which US state?
A2)        Texas.

A5)        Gabon.
Here’s a thought …
“A convict’s paranoia is as thick as the prison wall - and just as necessary.”
Eldridge Cleaver, August 31, 1935 – May 1, 1998.
And a song …

The next 10 question sets are on 5th, 7th and 11th September: they’re about the Muppet Show, Boston and the Nine-Eleven attacks.

There’s a twelve question set on 8th September: about Star Trek.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (Five out of five, yesterday: well done!)

†        It’s worth a go, Debbi: even though I don’t think it’s accurate: it’s about a group of MI5 agents who keep saying they’re spies.   They’re security officers, rather than intelligence officers.

  2. That sounds interesting. MI5 and MI6 make quite a duo. Then, there's MI9, which also intrigues me.

    1. Saudi Arabia
    2. Al Saud
    3. Portugal
    4. France
    5. Afghanistan

We shoot the film tomorrow. Wish me luck! :)

  3. BTW, I remember reading about the Peel sessions. Probably in Rolling Stone or Creem Magazine.

I remember wishing I could've been at the Cavern Club with the Beatles (when they were The Quarrymen). Or watching The Who (when they were The Detours) just starting out.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
