Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7th August 2026

7th August, 2026.

I had an update to my Mac. a few days ago.

From macOS 26·5 to macOS 26·6.

Which was done and dusted as soon as I decently could do it: there were quite a few security updates in there.

Last night … ?

I got the notification that told me there was another: from macOS 26·6 to macOS 26·6·1.

With just one patch in it: one that patches a vulnerability in macOS’s Screen Sharing.

A vulnerability that would — if I’ve understood it correctly — would give an attacker access to my machine: without having to sign in.

Which sounds serious: and means I’m going to do it as soon as decently possible.

On other fronts … ?

Yes: I have finished another review: of “Svoboda”, the most Recent episode I caught, of For All Mankind.

*        Hello, Mum!   (Well done!)

You mentioning the Crime Cafe reminds, me Debbi: I’ve got a couple of question sets to finish, before I start filming!
She did a cover of an old Stranglers song, as well‡.

Pointless trivia for you, Debbi.   Hugh Cornwell, the lead singer of the Stranglers, had a heroin habit: which explains the lyrics of “Hanging Around”, and “Golden Brown”.

Post a Comment

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
