Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 3-9-2026 — San Marino

3rd September, 2026: San Marino.

Right, then … it’s officially Thursday … !

And Radio Four’s Today programme has been telling us they’re marking Norman Day.

In other words, they’re marking the Norman Invasion of Britain in 1066: some 960 years ago.

And covering one specific thing: the fact the millennia-old Bayeux Tapestry, the Tapestry made by the Normans to mark their success, is currently on display at the British Museum.

I doubt I’ll have the chance.

But I’d love to see that: it’s an authentic piece of history!

  2. I hope you are all OK. I've been thinking about trying to catch up after the Festa Major (that finiished last Sunday), but somehow I maged to lose my voice and then it developed into a full-blown cold, that my mother also caught, so we've had a few challenging days (voice still not back to normal and coughing now and again... Oh, joy!). I imagine going up and down giving presents to people, and going from air conditioned zone to very hot weather doesn't help, but...
In any case, I thought of you when I saw the castellers (this time not live, as they had a lot of people already at the radio and I was feeling poorly already) do the pilar caminant (the walking tower). This time they got there OK, so... (The young girl at the top, l'anxeneta, couldn't go up the balcony because they are refurbishing the building and it seems it is dangerous to go upstairs). I share the link to the pilar, and also to an article with pictures of the streets. The official award went to carrer Valladolid, the one with decorations related to the Silk Road, and the one that won the popular vote (the one organised by the radio) was carrer Guadiana, the one that recreated a bakery and all kinds of sweet things.

  3. Backups, yes! Also, consistently formatted file names. I should be better than I've been at this. It's basic librarianship or just good record keeping.

I love it when people comment. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively adult. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

If you can also leave you comments on today’s Teaser Video, that would be good.

Thank you.
