The Daily Teaser — 16-3-2013

You know, it’s technically, two weeks away — today — from the second half of series seven of new Dr Who.

And I have to admit … I’m getting mildly impatient.

I mean … Ice Warriors, a new companion, and return Cybermen … ?

Sound good, from where I’m sitting,

And at least it’s not got TOO Eddie Izzard.

At any rate, let’s get moving on, shall we … ?

~~~~~
Yesterday’s teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: along with putting in her last Life on the Midlist Post — here — she also bagged 5 out of 5.
Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we … ?
Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video
Q1) 16th March, 37BC, saw Caligula become Roman emperor, after the death of his great uncle: who was his great uncle … ?
Q2) 16th March, 1953, saw Marshal Tito of where, pay a state visit to the UK … ?
Q3) More to the point, name any of that country’s successor states …
Q4) 16th March, 1988, saw thousands killed, after a chemical weapons attack in Halabja: in which country is Halabja … ?
Q5) That attack was ordered by that country’s ruler: who was he … ?
Q6) And finally … 16th March, 1926, saw the launch of the first liquid fueled what … ?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 15th March, 44BC, saw the assassination of Julius Cæsar: by a group of Roman what … ?
A1) Senators.
Q2) More to the point, in which Roman building was this: The Senate, the Theatre of Pompey or the Circus Maximus … ?
A2) The Theatre of Pompey.
Q3) At the time of Cæsar’s death was he Dictator, Emperor or Consul … ?
A3) Dictator.   (If I’ve understood things correctly, Emperor was never a term the Ancient Romans used in the same way we did: and his title as Consul had expired.)
Q4) At the time of his death, Cæsar was the effective leader of what: the Roman Republic or the Roman Empire … ?
A4) The Roman Republic.
Q5) And finally … which successor of Cæsar’s eventually became known — to us, anyway — as Rome’s first Emperor … ?
A5) Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus: ALSO known as Imperator Caesar Divi Filius Augustus, or just plain Augustus.   (I still feel that Sid would maybe have been less of a mouthful.)
I’ll leave you with this tune from Tommy Flanagan …
And this quote from Erik Estrada …
“They do the soaps differently in Mexico. You just have to know the storyline and not memorize the lines. There would be someone feeding you lines while you were performing.”
Erik Estrada, born 16th March, 1949.
Enjoy the day …
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
