Oh, THAT’S a geode! Yes: cracking those open would be something to watch. How on Earth does he know if a bit of rock’s a geode before hand!? Experience … and an education in Geology, yes? Give me a couple of minutes to kick myself for not thinking, there!
€10 sounds a good price for something that gorgeous: it’s about £8, if I’ve got the conversions right. Which is a good price: especially when you consider some of the New Age shops around here charge a fortune for them.

The meteor hunter told me that he saw people cracking up geodes in the US, and it seems Mexican miners retrieve them and buy sacks full of them (I imagine fairly cheaply). Of course, you don't know exactly what you will find inside, and sometimes they don't open well, but he lets buyers pick another one until they find one with something inside, so it is quite fun. We were there and there was a woman who had five goes (it isn't that there isn't anything there, but sometimes they aren't very spectacular). This woman's friends, who had her own go and got a pretty nice one (5 euros only) the first time around, like one of the cracked ones, and he gave it to her free of charge. He so enjoys it as well. There was a little girl who picked up one and it was quite beautiful inside, and he said that just to see her face was worth it. (It was quite funny because the little girl was worried for the rocks)!
