Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th August 2024.

10th August, 2024.

Right then … it’s Saturday … … !

And, frankly?

I’m expecting a nice, quiet day: that, thankfully, doesn’t include minor surgical procedures!

Ahem!

At any rate … ?

I’m aware I’ve a movie review to finish: I caught Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, last night, and wanted to tell people about it.

That’ll go live, later!

~≈®≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        10th August, 1557, saw Spanish forces win the Battle of Saint Quentin.   They beat an army from where: France, Germany or Portugal?

Q2)        Ecuador declared itself independent: on 10th August, 1809.   From where: Spain or Portugal?

Q3)        Britain started deporting Acadians from Nova Scotia: on 10th August, 1755.   The Acadians were descended from colonists from where: France, Germany or Spain?

Q4)        10th August is International Biodiesel Day.   Biodiesel can be defined as a mono-alkyl what: Ester, Naomi or Nancy?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Elizabeth 1st signed the Treaty of Nonsuch on 10th August, 1585: with Dutch Rebels.   The palace where the Treaty was signed, was where: Sussex, Surrey or Kent?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Sharon Tate was killed on 9th August, 1969.   By members of a gang led by whom: Charles Manson, David Berkowitz or Walter Hill?
A1)        Charles Manson.

Q2)        The gang were known as the what: the Bloods, the Crips or the Family?
A2)        The Family: or the Manson Family.

Q3)        Tate, herself, had been married to which director?
A3)        Roman Polanski.

Q4)        The murders took place in which US state: Oregon, California or New Mexico?
A4)        California.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The murderous group’s leader died in prison.   In which year: 2015, 2017 or 2019?
A5)        2017.
Here’s a thought …
“Scarlett O’Hara is going to be a thankless and difficult role. The part I’d like to play is Rhett Butler.”
Norma Shearer, August 10, 1902 – June 12, 1983.
A song …

And an earworm§¶ …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        🤣  It sounds like M*A*S*H was an accurate representation, Olga!   Mind you, they do say good comedy has some truth in it!

        Hello, Mum!

‡        Today’s photo took me a couple of tries, Debbi.   It can be frustrating!   (Oh, there’s talk of a new M4 Mac mini being released, later this year.   I don’t know how your finances are, but it might be worth keeping an eye out for.)

§        I think I preferred the band’s earlier, more socially aware stuff.

By contrast … ?   I’ve now got Musical Youth’s “Pass the Dutchie” on.   If ever there was a song with a double meaning, it’s “Pass the Dutchie”!

  2. Yes, MASH was a bit exaggerated but... It depends where, I guess. Sorry, I am running late today and I have no idea if and when I'll catch up with myself.
Let's see if tomorrow things work out better.

  3. I hate the way Blogger makes me reenter my blog du jour in my name every time I leave a comment.

I know it's not your fault, Paul. It's Blogger. They'll do whatever they want. :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
