The Daily Teaser …

Hmmm …

There’s a thing …

Remember me saying, yesterday, about former Chief Secretary to the Treasury, David Laws … ?

Well it looks like someone’s having a pop at his Lib-Dem replacement, Danny Alexander, after a certain amount of questions were raised about the possibly dubious non-payment of Capital Gains Tax, on a second home.

I’m thinking this is possibly starting to get ridiculous … !

Let’s get moving on, shall we … ?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw just Trevor putting in his answers, and bagging 6 out of 6: congratulations due, I think …

Let’s see what he — and you — can do with today’s questions, shall we … ? Here they are, along with the ‘How To’ and License.

Q1) 1st June, 193AD, saw the assassination of which Roman Emperor?

Q2) Many years later, 1st June, 1533, saw who crowned as Queen of England?

Q3) 1st June, 1985, saw police stop a 140-caravan convoy of New Age travellers: which Wiltshire hotspot were those travellers going to … ?

Q4) More to the point, how has that confrontation later become known?

Q5) 1st June, 1980, saw the début broadcast by which US news channel … ?

Q6) And finally … 1st June, 1979, saw the end of minority white rule in which African country … ?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 31st May, 1678, saw marches in honour of whom? start going through Coventry?

Q2) 31st May, 1930, saw the birth of actor/director — and former politician — Clint Eastwood. How many Oscars has he won?
A2) Five.

Q3) More to the point, what small Californian town was he mayor of?
A3) Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Q4) 31st May 1872, saw the birth of which cartoonist … ?
A4) W. Heath Robinson. (And I’m thinking that the cartoon, here, looks a lot like Rincewind … )

Q5) 31st May, 1957, saw who found guilty of Comtempt of Congress?
A5) Playwright, Arthur Miller.

Q6) And finally … 31st May, 1859, saw the Clock Tower of the House of Parliament, start keeping time. At which end of the Houses is Big Ben, north or south … ?
A6) North.

Enjoy those, everyone: I’ll catch you later …

Just as a post-script, for those of us out there who want some seriously retro fun for our Mac’s, McSebi Software — the people behind Pac The Man X — are looking for playtesters for their upcoming release. Just in case you wanted to volunteer …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
