The Daily Teaser …

Hmmm …

That’s a worry …

I’ve got the news on in the background, and one item’s caught my attention: it seems a social housing provider, Connaught, looks like it’s on the verge of going into administration.

The reason it’s worrying … ?

Is simply that my landlord, South Anglia, are also social housing providers.

One has to wonder …

At any rate, let’s get moving on, shall we … ?

‹‹‹◊›››

Yes, lets.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Trevor and AlexandraFunFit putting in their answers. And I’ve got to admit, I know Alexandra’s done it again: beaten her own personal best! Big round of applause, there, I think!

Because, true to form, Trevor managed to bag 5 of 5: and Alexandra, bless her, managed a whopping — for her — 4 out of 5!

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we … ?

Here they are, complete with the ‘How To’ and License

Q1) 7th September, 1776, saw the worlds first attack launched by a submarine: what was the name of the submersible concerned … ?

Q2) More to the point, where was that sub … ?

Q3) September 7th, 1936, saw the birth of singer/song-writer, Charles Hardin Holley: how was he better known … ?

Q4) More to the point, which of his singles — in a band or as a solo artist — was the only one to be both a UK and US No. 1 … ?

Q5) More to the point, 7th September, 1813, saw the first recorded references to the USA being nicknamed … what … ?

Q6) And finally … 7th September, 1986, saw who named as the first black Archbishop of Cape Town … ?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 6th September, 3114 BC, is the generally agreed start date for which calendar: the Mayan, Islamic or Jewish?

A1) Mayan.

Q2) According to some modern day interpretations of this calendar, when’s the world going to end? (Or, at least, have something really BAD happen.)
A2) 21st December, 2012.

Q3) September 6th, 1964, saw the birth of actress, Rosie Perez: in which 1988 Spike Lee film did she make her acting debut … ?
A3) Do The Right Thing.

Q4) At almost the end of World War 2, 6th September, 1944, saw allied forces liberate which Belgian town … ?
A4) Ypres.

Q5) 6th September, 1879, saw the birth of German actor, Max Schreck: in which silent F. W. Murnau film did he make his best known appearance … ?
A5) Nosferatu: or Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens, if you want watch Trevor being picky … !

Enjoy those, everyone. I’ll catch you later …

Oh, and considering Alexandra will give me and Trevor merry heck for not doing some exercise? I think I’ve found the Rosie Perez Work-out video …

  2. I would never make you do that workout. But it looks sort of fun. But Rosie looks pissed off. How can anyone be pissed off while dancing?

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
