The Daily Teaser — 13-7-2013: Feed The World

Blimey, looks like yesterday was newsworthy … !

Not only did did Northern Ireland see the inevitable trouble — it WAS the Twelfth, yesterday — but a train crashed in France.

A typhoon hit Taiwan.   Bodies were found on Dartmoor.   Another Dreamliner had battery trouble.

And to cap it all … ?   A nail bomb went off outside a mosque in Tipton.

This is going to sound tasteless: but I’m getting the feeling next year’s Twelfth July teaser is going to be writing itself … !

~≈Á≈~

Yesterday’s teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers.   Along with scoring six out of six, she also managed to let me (and Trevor) know a little something was on the way.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s Live Aid questions.

Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …

Q1) Saturday, 13th July, saw the Live Aid benefit gig performed.   The money earned was use to help the people of which African country … ?
Q2) The concert was held in Wembley Stadium in London: and the JFK Stadium in which Pennsylvanian city … ?
Q3) Which band opened Live Aid … ?
Q4) Which rock band were first on stage … ?
Q5) Which rap band performed Jam Master Jay and King Of Rock at the US gig … ?
Q6) Who was the only member of The Beatles to perform at Wembley … ?
Q7) Who was the only person to appear, on the day, both at Wembley and JFK stadiums … ?
Q8) Which US rocker famously declined to appear, stating, afterwards, that he “simply did not realise how big the whole thing was going to be” … ?
Q9) Which Cars song had a famously heartbreaking video made for the concert … ?
Q10) Finally … Live Aid and Band Aid were organized by Bob Geldof of The Boomtown Rats, and Midge Ure: of which band was Ure the lead singer … ?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 12th July is a day of parades in Northern Island: the province is also known as which ‘U’ … ?
A1) Ulster.
Q2) Those parades are notoriously fractious: and usually organized by which quasi-masonic order … ?
A2) The Orange Order.
Q3) Which 17th Century battle do the parades mark … ?
A3) The Battle of the Boyne.
Q4) That battle was led by two rival claimants to the thrones of Britain: name either claimant.
A4) Catholic James 2nd and protestant William 3rd: or William of Orange, as he’s known.
Q5) 12th July, 1986, saw riots provoked by the parades held in which Armagh town … ?
A5) Portadown.
Q6) Finally … 12th July saw three children killed in an arson attack, linked to the parades.   In which town … ?
A6) Ballymoney.
I’ll leave you with this request from a (thankfully non-swearing) Bob Geldof
“Don’t go to the pub tonight - please stay in and give us your money”.
Bob Geldof.
And what else can one close today with, except this song …

Have a good day …

*       Cheers, Debbi!  I’ll Trevor know … ! :D

It's not Christmas; that's why they don't know it is.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
