The Daily Teaser — 14-7-2013: Bastille Day.

That’s … unamusing … !

I’ll admit, I’m sitting here, in my front room:with Bruce on, and Safari open and doing it’s thing.

With at least two Google Products — Blogspot, itself, and YouTube — seemingly being a touch less responsive than usual.

I’ll be frank, I’m not sure if that’s me, my internet connection, Google, or something else.

But it has taken a while for me to get going, because of it.

Everything’s set up, and ready to go, now.   But that’s mildly frustrating …

Let’s get a move on, shall we … ?

~≈‡≈~

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Debbi and (I’m assuming) Richard, putting in they’re answers: with Debbi bagging nine out of ten, and Richard scoring one, it ALSO saw Debbi asking if I’d been on Pinterest*.

Let’s see how they — and you — do with today’s mildly French questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …

Q1) 14th July is the French national day, Bastille Day and celebrates the original Storming of the Bastille.   In which year was that … ?
Q2) The Bastille famously held political prisoners.   How many did it hold at the time: five, six or seven … ?
Q3) Who was French king at the time?
Q4) The Bastille Day Military Parade — celebrating the day — is held in which French city … ?
Q5) In which year did that Parade start: 1879, 1880 or 1881 … ?
Q6) Name any of the years Jean Michel Jarre has held a Bastille Day concert, in Paris.
Q7) Finally … which Belgian town — and holder of the Légion d’Honneur — celebrates Bastille Day … ?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) Saturday, 13th July, saw the Live Aid benefit gig performed.   The money earned was use to help the people of which African country … ?
A1) Ethiopia.
Q2) The concert was held in Wembley Stadium in London: and the JFK Stadium in which Pennsylvanian city … ?
A2) Philadelphia.
Q3) Which band opened Live Aid … ?
A3) The Band of The Coldstream Guards.
Q4) Which rock band were first on stage … ?
A4) Status Quo.
Q5) Which rap band performed Jam Master Jay and King Of Rock at the US gig … ?

Q6) Who was the only member of The Beatles to perform at Wembley … ?
A6) Paul McCartney.
Q7) Who was the only person to appear, on the day, both at Wembley and JFK stadiums … ?
A7) Drummer and Genesis member, Phil Collins.
Q8) Which US rocker famously declined to appear, stating, afterwards, that he “simply did not realise how big the whole thing was going to be” … ?
A8) Bruce Springsteen.   (The TWIT … !)
Q9) Which Cars song had a famously heartbreaking video made for the concert … ?
A9) Drive.
Q10) Finally … Live Aid and Band Aid were organized by Bob Geldof of The Boomtown Rats, and Midge Ure: of which band was Ure the lead singer … ?
A10) Ultravox.
Enjoy those, everyone: I’ll leave you with this thought about Bastille Day …
“How much the greatest event it is that ever happened in the world! and how much the best!”
Letter to Mr. Fitzpatrick (30 July 1789) on the fall of the Bastille, printed in J. Russell (ed.), Memorials and Correspondence of Charles James Fox.
And with possibly the ONLY tune to play on the day …

Have a good day … !

*        I’ve got to admit, Debbi, I’ve not actually used it, that much: it’s one of those I’m on … and wondering why.   (Although I know George Takei uses it: some of the stuff he posts through to Facebook, as a result, is hysterical … !)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
