The Daily Teaser — 10-10-2013

Oh … great …

It’s got to be said, Labour leader, Ed Milliband, announcing at his party conference, a few weeks again, that a future government tun by him, would introduce legislation, freezing energy prices.

Something I — for one — find VERY appealing.

I don’t believe it’ll ever happen, but it’s an appealing thought, one I’d find a vote winner, all else being equal.

Of course, JUST to hammer the point home … ?

Just to hammer the point home, SSE, the company I use, has announced, today, that it’ll be increasing its gas and electricity prices.

I hate to get political, first thing on a Thursday morning.   But I have to ask why on Earth the coalition government’s not done anything like this.

It’s would make my life a lot easier …

Along side Trevor showing us his rather impressive collection, Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and, along with asking after some Dr Who news, also scored six out of six.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we?   Here they are, along with the ‘How To,’ License and video …

Q1) 10th October can be written as 10-10.   What — in CB slang — does 10-10 mean … ?

Q5) Finally … 10th October is World Mental Health Day.   Who, in the UK, is responsible for mental health care provision?

Here’s yesterday’s rather Blessed questions and answers …

Q6) Finally … In which science fiction film did Brian use the phrase, ‘Gordon’s ALIVE’ … ?
Enjoy those.

I’ll leave you with this thought from Sir Michæl Pinsent …
“I am delighted that so many rowers are yet again amongst the recipients in the New Year's Honors List but of course personally I am overjoyed that I have been knighted,”
Sir Matthew Pinsent, born 10th October, 1970.
Given it’s ALSO Midge Ure’s birthday, I’ll also leave you with this …

Have a good day.

*        Think I covered most of it, yesterday, Debbi: but to summarize … ?   Back in the 1960s and 70s, the BBC used to wipe videotape from stuff — including episodes of Dr Who — it felt wasn’t important: the tape was expensive, so re-using it was more important than what was on it.   That lead to quite a few missing episodes, and stories† with holes.   The Beeb, though, always keeps its eyes open.   Because occasionally, some of the missing episodes are found in foreign countries: ones that Aunty sold shows to, over the years.   (I think Jon Pertwee story, The Dæmons‡, was found in the US, just as an example.)

†        There’s an old Patrick Troughton story, Invasion, which has quite a few missing episodes.   What the BBC have done is, where audio soundtracks are available, they’ve animated the missing episodes: Invasion, I seem to recall, was one of the first episodes to get the treatment

‡        Just don’t quote me on that!

  1. There are quite a few episodes we haven't seen here in the States. Such a shame. The old shows are fun. Except, of course, when they aren't. :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
