The Daily Teaser — 9-8-2015: In California

Lord knows how I was actually going to start this post.   I had no idea.   Possibly by telling you about the weather.

But … ?

I also have to confess that I’ve posted up the slideshow for today’s California-themed Teaser.

While I was doing so … ?

I caught this trailer for an upcoming movie called Steve Jobs: all about the late Apple CEO.

I’m intrigued: and impressed by the trailer.

Personally … ?   I wouldn’t mind catching the thing …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 9th September saw California admitted to the USA.   Was it the 30th, 31st or 32nd state to do so?
Q2) It was admitted in which year of the 1850s?
Q3) What’s the capital of California?
Q4) What’s the state’s largest city: Sacramento, Los Angeles or San Francisco?
Q5) Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer represent California, where: the US House of Representatives, the US Senate or the Californian State Legislature?
Q6) The largest publicly traded company in California — as of 2011 — is headquartered in San Ramon.   Which energy company are we talking about?
Q7) Which industry is famously based in California’s Silicon Valley: the energy industry, the technology industry or financial services?
Q8) The LA Clippers, the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors are all from California.   Which sport do they play?
Q9) The USA’s film industry in centred in California: in Hollywood.   Hollywood is a district of which US city?
Q10) Finally … current film, Straight Outta Compton, is about which Californian rap band?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 8th September is International Literacy Day.   Literacy is the ability to read: and do what else?
A1) Write.
Q2) 8th September, 1978, saw soldiers kill 88 protestors: on a day remembered as Black Friday.   The deaths took place in which country?
A2) Iran.
Q3) 8th September, 1943, saw which country surrender, during World War 2?
A3) Italy.
Q4) 8th September, 1945, saw the birth of keyboard player, Ron ‘Pigpen’ McKernan.   Which US band was he a founder member of?
A4) The Grateful Dead.
Q5) Yellowstone National Park was temporarily closed: as of 8th September, 1988.   Why?
A5) Ongoing wildfires.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“California’s a wonderful place to live — if you happen to be an orange.”

Fred Allen.
And this tune …

Enjoy your day …

*        I think, Debbi†, it was only shown at the cinema screenings: so either of us not knowing isn’t surprising!   It’s not even on iTunes, as yet … !   (£22 for standard definition … ?   Oy veh … !)

†        Oh, House of Cards is filmed near you: in Baltimore …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
