The Daily Teaser — 9-12-2015: Kirk Douglas

Right …

It has to be said, it’s a Wednesday.

But you’d worked that out, hadn’t you … ?

At any rate, it’s a Wednesday: and, as I’m working?   I’m feeling slightly rushed.

One thing I WILL tell you … ?

Remember me saying the flat over the road from me got raided, last week?

Well, the previous tenants had moved out a little while ago.   And it struck me that the new tenants seem to be …

Well, let’s put it this way: the ‘flat’ over the road is a two-storey one.   Basically, it’s a three bedroom house, with a block of flats on top.

I’ve only ever noticed one light on, over there: there seems to be only one person living there.

It seems very under occupied, for a three bedroom house.

The raid … ?   Well, the raid basically did one thing.

My landlords rent out the flats in the area.

The raid got me concerned enough to get in touch with them.

What’ll happen, there … ?

Who knows …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* leaving her answers: scoring four out of five in the process.   The day also saw Olga† looking in to catch up.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 9th December saw the birth of actor, Kirk Douglas.   In which year of the 20th century?
Q2) What name was Kirk born under?
Q3) Kirk’s eighth film — released in 1949  — saw him play unscrupulous boxer, Midge Kelly: in a film that saw him garner good reviews.   What was the film called?
Q4) Kirk played Vincent van Gogh: in which 1956 film?
Q5) One of Kirk’s most famous films was Spartacus: released in 1960.   Who directed Spartacus?
Q6) Oddly, Kirk Douglas is one of the world’s oldest celebrity bloggers.   Who does he blog for?
Q7) Kirk is one of only four people to have his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame stolen, and replaced.   Name any one of the three others.
Q8) In Is Paris Burning, Kirk plays General George Patton.   The film is about the 1944 liberation of which city?
Q9) Kirk Douglas as Einar, Tony Curtis as Eric, Ernest Borgnine as Ragnar.   What’s the 1958 film?
Q10) Finally … how many Best Actor Oscars has Kirk received?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 8th December, 1980, saw the death of John Lennon.   His only US №. 1, Whatever Get’s You thru the Night, featured who, on piano and backing vocals?
A1) Elton John.
Q2) 8th December, 1983, saw TV cameras allowed into the House of Lords: for the first time.   Both Houses of the UK’s Parliament are in which London Palace?
Q3) 8th December, 1982, saw the birth of rapper, Nicki Minaj.   What was her first Top Ten hit … in the UK?
A3) Super Bass.
Q4) 8th December, 1894, saw the birth of E. C. Segar, the cartoonist who created Popeye.   What was the name of the comic strip Popeye first appeared in?
Q5) Finally … 8th December, 1953, saw the US president deliver his Atoms for Peace speech to the UN General Assembly.   Which US president?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“The bad films everybody was high on. The good films, they advised me against.”

Kirk Douglas.
And this …

Enjoy your day …

*        I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed, Debbi, I know that much.   (I DO know @wipoolplayer mentioned this one: there’s a few others around, the same sort of capacity, that look genuinely affordable.)

†        That’s OK, Olga: earworms tend to turn up with no real rhyme or reason!   At ANY rate … ?   I went with Super Bass, as the Nicky Minaj song: she was named lead artist on that one.   (Wikipedia tends to separate singles into lists: ones where an artist is the lead artist, and another on collaborations.   I TEND to go for the ‘Lead Artist’ list.)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
