This going to be rushed: or, at least rushed … ish.
Why … ?
Well, Blogger seems to be having trouble, this morning: I’m getting a near enough consistent 502 error, across all browsers and from all user account on my computer.
Frustrating, but there you go.
So …
Without much further ado …

Let’s move on …
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, King Cucumber† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all Three scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1)Bert Weedon was born on 10th May, 1920: and became one of the most influential guitarists on the planet. What were his famous tutorial books called?
Q2)In two US states, 10th May is Confederate Memorial Day. Name either one of the two states.
Q3)Winston Churchill was named as British Prime Minister: on 10th May, 1940. Who did he replace?
Q4)One, World Trade Centre, was named as the Western Hemisphere’s tallest building. Which US city is it in?
Q5)Finally … Sony introduced the Betamax tape format in Japan: on 10th May, 1975. Betamax lost a format war: to what?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1)9th May, 1873, saw the start of Der Krach. This was a stock market crash, where: London, Vienna or New York?
Q3)Britain’s Royal Navy captured the German submarine, U-110, on 9th May, 1941. The Navy captured the sub … and its code machine. What was that coding machine called?
“You just pick a chord, go twang, and you’ve got music.”
Sid Vicious, 10 May 1957 – 2 February 1979.
And — given it’s Sly Dunbar’s birthday, a favourite song, and one of the most menacing bits of music ever written — this tune …
Have a good day: don’t let Google act up on you … !
* The really weird bit, Olga … ? Is that it’s two very different batches of chicken: if it was one of the other, I could understand it! I managed to not have anything to eat at work, yesterday … and STILL ended up with stomach cramps! The sooner I can work this out, the happier I’ll be!! (You know, I’ve still — after all this time — only ever seen Psycho. I know, I know, I can feel you and Debbi giving me meaningful looks, from over here … !)
† Cucumber, would you mind leaving me a link to your Facebook or Twitter account? Ta … ! Apart from that … ? Hello, and welcome to Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar
‡ Oh, talking of guns, Debbi? I got talking to a workmate, yesterday. I get the occasional earworm, and had I Don’t Like Mondays going through my head: as it was one of THOSE Monday’s, yesterday’s. Geldof wrote the tune as he was in a US radio station, being interviewed … when news cam in of Brenda Spencer, shooting school kids, came in. ‘The telex machine is kept so clean …’ (I will do, Debbi: the minute Blogspot starts behaving itself. Dratted 502 errors!)
Q1) Play in a Day Q2) North and South Carolina Q3) Neville Chamberlain Q4) New York Q5) VHS Oh yes, indeed you must watch more Hitchcock (I think each person has its own favourites, North by Northwest if fabulous and I'm a big fan of Shadow of a Doubt... but it's a tough choice. Frenzy for a London setting...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
Can I not do your quiz without a link to twatter or facefuck ?
ReplyDeleteKC.
I’d be comfier seeing a social media profile or webpage link, KC.
