Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 16-6-2016

Right … then …

It’s a Thursday: and one where I’m off.

And frankly … ?

One where I’ve actually finished watching series two of The Strain … !

And, while I don’t know if — on a technical level — it’s as good as Penny Dreadful, it is a very good action piece: one that romps along at a fantastic pace, keeping its viewers — or me, at least — thoroughly engaged.

And all the better for that!

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with todays questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 16th June, 1884, saw the opening of the world’s first roller-coaster: on which Brooklyn island?
Q2) 16th June, 1903, saw the incorporation of the Ford Motor Company.   Which mass produced car — first released in 1908 — was its first successful model?
Q3) 16th June, 1971, saw the birth of rapper, Tupac Shakur.   He was shot dead in September of which year?
Q4) 16th June saw the start of the Monterey Pop Festival: one of the most famous events of the 1960s.   On 16th June of which year?
Q5) Finally … 16th June, 1829, saw the birth of Geronimo.   Which Native American tribe was he a member of: Apache, Cherokee or Yurok?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 15th June, 1844, saw Charles Goodyear receive the patent for vulcanization.   Vulcanization is the process of strengthening rubber.   By adding what: chlorine, sulphur or carbon?
A1) Sulphur.
Q2) New Hampshire ratified the 12th Amendment to the US Constitution: on 15th June, 1804.   The Amendment provides the process for electing whom: the US President, the Attorney General or the Secretary of State?
A2) The US President.
Q3) Pope Leo 10th issued the bull, Exsurge Domine.   Which famous monk did the bull threaten to excommunicate?
A3) Martin Luther.
Q4) Representatives from many countries formed the Imperial Cricket Council: on 16th June, 1909.   At which cricket ground?
A4) Lords.
Q5) Finally … Who went on trial on 15th June, 1970: for the murder of Sharon Tate, and others?
A5) Charles Manson and his gang.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“In this business, you do one job and then move on. You wipe everything else out - you have to. You can’t live in the past.”
James Bolan, born 16 June 1935†.
And this tune …

Have a good day!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
