Q1)6th August, 1996, saw NASA announce it had found evidence of life on Mars. What it had actually found was possible fossil bacteria on what: an asteroid, meteorite or comet?
Q4)6th August, 1892, saw the birth of actor, Hoot Gibson. He made his name in early Western movies, and as a performer in what: porn films, rodeos or pop videos?
A4)Rodeos. (It would have to be an odd porn film, featuring someone called Hoot. Mind you … )
Q5)Finally … 6th August, 1928, saw the birth of artist, Andy Warhol. His studio, the Factory, was in which US city?
“It was a great moment on board when two large boobies were spotted above the horizon to westward.”
The Expedition’s Leader, narrating the 1948 documentary about the expedition.
And a tune by The Shadows …
Have a good day.
* Yes, I’d come across that, before now, Olga: I think it’s had a mention in one of Left-handers Day Teasers. I don’t think I know any one ulcerative colitis: but the one Crohn’s sufferer I know is a southpaw. (I couldn’t tell you if celebrity Crohn’s sufferer, Anastacia‡, is a lefty, though.) I’ also get the impression — from the basic research I’ve done for one of the other Left-handers Day — that we’re slightly more likely to suffer with some form of schizophrenia, if we’re left handed … with a left handed father. I’m assuming some sort of genetic factor?
† Blimey, Debbi, I WISH I had a college degree! I might JUST have to bribe someone! At ANY rate? I might just have to start looking at … hmmm … double checking my advertising revenue …
‡ Where on God’s green Earth did a forty-something session-singer with Crohn’s and glasses get a voice like that?
Q1) 1947 Q2) Pacific Q3) Thor Heyerdahl Q4) raft Q5) balsa Q6) Hemp Q7) Sun Q8) The Inca Q9) Six Q10) The Tuamoto Archipelago You're right about the voice. I was wondering if bowel problems somehow were related. Considering the percentage of left-handed people seems to have changed little over generations it's likely to have some genetic involvement. I read the book about the Kontiki expedition many years back and I translated a book called Virgin of the Sun that's about the Incas.... go figure! (Very good book, by the way).I hope today is better. And beware of pasties.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
