Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30-9-2016

Oh, I hate that when it happens.

I’ve got an interview, today: in Chelmsford.

On I’m mildly nervous about finding, to be brutally honest: as it’s quite some distance from Chelmsford Station.

Here’s hoping … !

The one big flaw in the plan?

Was that I’d hoped to get a good night’s sleep, last night.

But … ?

Wouldn’t you know it, my IBS started to play up.

I got to sleep, eventually.

But, my word … That’s not an evening I want to repeat, the night before an interview!

~≈Á≈~

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Debbi bagging four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Elizabeth Stride, and Catherine Eddowes were killed: on 30th September, 1888.   By whom?
Q2) Madagascar became a French Protectorate: on 30th September, 1895.   Madagascar is in which ocean?
Q3) 30th September, 1971, saw the British government announce the defection of Oleg Lyalin, a week previously.   Lyalin had worked for whom, before he defected: the CIA, KGB or MI6?
Q4) 30th September, 1994, saw the closure of what HAD been the furthest Underground station from Central London.   What station was it?
Q5) Finally … 30th September, 1975, saw the first flight of the AH-64 Apache.   The Apache is a what: fighter, submarine or helicopter?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) The world’s first commercial nuclear power plant was demolished: on 29th September, 2007.   What was it called?
Q2) Whose 14th Symphony debuted in Leningrad, on 29th September, 1969: Mussorgsky’s, Shostakovich’s or Rimsky-Kosakov’s?
Q3) 29th September is the Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels.   It’s also known as what: Roodmas, Lammas or Michaelmas?
Q4) 29th September, 2010, saw the death of actor, Tony Curtis.   In which film did he play Antoninus?
A4) Spartacus.
Q5) Finally … the cornerstone of Washington National Cathedral was laid: on 29th September, 1907.   The church is dedicated to two saints.   Name either.
A5) Saint Peter or Saint Paul.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I think there are a lot of people who really want to be famous, they really do. I don’t. It sort of gets in the way of the everyday things that I do.”
Johnny Mathis, born 30th September, 1935.
And this song …

Enjoy your day.

Wish me luck …

*        I hope so, Olga!   Long term unemployment can be a bit of a drag … !

†        Oh, I know, Debbi.   Still … I used to enjoy it, back in the day, when I worked in Stratford’s VAT office.   (And I have to admit enjoying my first trip on the Docklands Light Railway.)

  2. I used to think it was kind of cool, too. But I had to get up at an ungodly hour to get to work. Plus I worked in a "sick building", which didn't help my health any. And I didn't even have dystonia back then!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
