Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 3-9-2017

You know …

Something that went past me — in last week’s news — was the fact that the Democratic Unionists, one of the two biggest parties in the Northern Irish Assembly, want to resume a power sharing government in the Stormont Assembly.

The fact Sinn Féin have objections?   Goes without saying.

The fact both parties seem to be resting to sniping at each other in the press — rather than anything worse — is a good thing, as far as I’m concerned.

The fact that the New Irish Republican Army claim to have developed a new kind of bomb?

Adds a worrying factor to talks.

Personally?

Personally, I was a youngster during the 1970s and 80s: growing up with the impression The Troubles made Northern Ireland a dangerous place to visit.

I lived and watched the Northern Irish peace talks, that led to the Good Friday Agreement, and felt they were a good thing.   Especially as that led to the likes of the extreme unionist Reverend Ian Paisley, and rabidly republican, Martin McGuinness, working together in relative harmony.

Bloody miracle, that was!

Right now?   Given Brexit, stalled talks in Britain, delayed talks in Europe, and a New IRA making waves?

I’m seriously worried there’s more Troubles coming.

And hope they won’t.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring ten out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

And a thought …
“I have a 10,000-year-old brain and the boogers of a 7-year-old. That’s how I describe myself.”
Charlie Sheen‡, born 3rd September, 1965.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I remember catching a pop psychology documentary, after Jobs’ death, Olga: one (sort of) inspired by his biography.   From what I remember, the show speculated there’s more psychosis amongst high earning business leaders than you’d think.   As for The Devil’s Advocate?   You have to love Pacino’s Absentee Landlord Speech in that!

†        The wall or the letter A, Debbi?   :D   Oh, so you know?   The Steve Jones in today’s song is the former Pistol’s guitarist: that was his riff in God Save the Queen … !   (Chap in the hanky.)

‡        Am I the only person who thinks Charlie has … issues?

I can believe it of Jobs. I'm also convinced that many people who would fit in the autism spectrum disorder category are creating computer programmes and Apps because they seem particularly suited that.
And yes, it's a fabulous speech and Pacino delivers it with gusto. (I also liked De Niro in Angel Heart, but always thought Jack Nicholson was perfect for the devil, although not so sure after The Witches of Eastwick.) I also think that Keanu Reeves does best when he looks befuddled (life is pretty befuddling, I'll give him that) like in the Matrix at times.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
