Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7th December, 2017

Phew …

I managed to salvage my hat.

Or, at least, have it salvaged for me by a workmate.

Who I’m truly thankful to.

He’s saved me a few quid on Amazon.

Oh, talking of Amazon …

One thing I noticed, yesterday?

Is that, apparently, Amazon and Google are having something of a corporate snit: with Google’s streaming devices not on the world’s online shop, and Google talking YouTube off Amazon’s Fire devices.

Personally?

I’m just glad Youtube, Netflix and Amazon Prime are all available through my AppleTV.

Given I can stream anything in my iTunes library to and from the think, ruling out the need for a Chromecast-like ability of local streaming?

It keeps the number of devices down.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser was quiet: with no-one putting in their answers.

Let’s see how we can persuade to try today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 7th December, 1915, saw the birth of actor, Eli Wallach.   In which 1956 film did he make his debut: as Silva Vacarro?
Q2) The Japanese  space probe, Akatsuki, went into orbit around its target planet: on 7th December, 2015.   Which planet?
Q3) A&M Records, Inc. v. Napster, Inc. (2000) launched in a US Court: on 7th December, 2000.   Napster was, at the time, a notorious what?
Q4) The original Royal Opera House opened: on 7th December, 1732.   In which garden?
Q5) Finally … 7th December, 1922, saw the Parliament of Northern Ireland vote to remain part of where?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 6th December, 2015, saw elections held in which South American country?
A1) Venezuela.
Q2) 6th December, 1648, saw Colonel Thomas Pride purge parliament: of MPs who supported whom: King Charles 1st, Oliver Cromwell or Arsenal FC?
Q3) Finland marks its independence: on 6th December.   From where?
A3) Russia.
Q4) Killer fog spread across the UK: on 6th December, 1962.   During this period, Leeds saw high levels of which chemical?
Q5) Finally … the USA ratified the 13th Amendment to the constitution: on 6th December, 1865.   What did it ban: alcohol sales, slavery or sexual discrimination?
A5) Slavery.
Here’s a thought …
“I always knew what I wanted to do with my life and career, but I was helped along the way by a few people. I didn’t need telling, but when people like Franco (Zola), Wisey (Dennis Wise) and Marcel (Desailly) take the time out to say, ‘You’ve got the world at your feet if you do things right’, then you think there must be something to it.”
John Terry, born 7 December 1980.
And — given it’s the performer’s birthday — some music …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Farewell, and have a good day.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
